Anacetrapib, a cholesteryl ester transfer protein inhibitor
Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2011Inhibition of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) has the ability to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol levels and potentially reduce cardiovascular risk. The first CETP inhibitor, torcetrapib, was discontinued due to off-target effects resulting in increased mortality.

Dalcetrapib, a cholesteryl ester transfer protein modulator
Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2012Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) plays an important role in reverse cholesterol transport by transferring cholesteryl esters from high-density lipoprotein (HDL) to the apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins. Inhibition of CETP is a target to increase HDL-cholesterol and potentially reduce atherosclerosis.

Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein Reaction between Plasma Lipoproteins
Journal of Biochemistry, 1998The rate of the non-directional transfer of cholesteryl ester and triglyceride by human cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) was measured between human plasma lipoproteins by monitoring fluorescence spectrum of pyrene-labeled lipid. The transfer rates between high density lipoproteins (HDLs) and between low density lipoproteins (LDLs) were both ...

Molecular genetics of plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein
Current Opinion in Lipidology, 1997Plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein facilitates the transfer of cholesteryl ester from HDL to apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins, and is a key protein in the reverse cholesterol transport system. The importance of plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein in lipoprotein metabolism was highlighted by the discovery of deficient individuals ...
