Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2000Mimics of squalamine and polymyxin B (PMB) have been prepared from cholic acid in hope of finding new antimicrobial agents. The squalamine mimics include the polyamine and sulphate functionalities found in the parent antibiotic, however, the positions relative to the steroid nucleus have been exchanged.

Determination of deoxycholic and cholic acids in bile
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1954Abstract A method is described for the simultaneous quantitative determination of cholic acid and deoxycholic acid by ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometry. The method is similar to the published procedure of Kier (2) with the exception that the bile acid samples to be analyzed are heated in 65% sulfuric acid at 60 °C.
