Choline chloride treatment of memory deficits in the elderly
American Journal of Psychiatry, 1979Eight elderly patients with mild memory impairment were given choline chloride, a drug that increases brain acetylcholine concentrations. After 16 g/day of choline for 7 days, average memory performance was not different from performance during pre- and postcholine placebo treatment, although the patient with the poorest baseline performance improved ...

Choline chloride in methylphenidate- and apomorphine-induced stereotypy
Life Sciences, 1978Abstract The effect of choline chloride on apomorphine- and methylphenidate-induced stereotypy in rats was tested. Subcutaneous administration of a single dose of choline chloride significantly reduced apomorphine-induced stereotypy. These results could not be attributed to a nonspecific obtunding effect of choline chloride, and indicate that choline

Sulfocholine (dimethylhydroxyethylsulfonium chloride) and choline metabolism in the rat
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1969Abstract 1. 1. The metabolism of choline and sulfocholine (dimethylhydroxyethylsulfonium chloride) in the rat has been compared. 2. 2. Radioactivity from [Me-3H]sulfocholine is incorporated ten times faster into total liver phospholipids than from [35S]sulfocholine. There is no significant difference in the kidney or heart. 3. 3.

Choline chloride in animal models of tardive dyskinesia
Life Sciences, 1978Abstract Rats treated chronically with haloperidol show evidence of supersensitive dopamine receptors by increased stereotypy when challenged with apomorphine. When such animals are treated acutely with choline chloride at the time of challenge, no changes in stereotypy were observed.
