Targeting Chondroitin Sulfate Reduces Invasiveness of Glioma Cells by Suppressing CD44 and Integrin β1 Expression

open access: yesCells, 2021
Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is a major component of the extracellular matrix found to be abnormally accumulated in several types of cancer tissues. Previous studies have indicated that CS synthases and modification enzymes are frequently elevated in human ...

NG2 Is a Major Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan Produced after Spinal Cord Injury and Is Expressed by Macrophages and Oligodendrocyte Progenitors

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2002
Several extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules have been identified as potent inhibitors of neurite outgrowth in vitro and are believed to limit axonal growth after CNS injury.

CRISPLD2 Attenuates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Suppressing Oxidative Stress‐Induced Ferroptosis through the miR‐548I‐IL17A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies CRISPLD2 as a key protector against IVDD. By regulating ferroptosis through the CRISPLD2–miR‐548I–IL17A axis, CRISPLD2 maintains NPCs homeostasis and reduces oxidative stress. Restoring CRISPLD2 expression effectively alleviates disc degeneration and highlights a promising therapeutic strategy for discogenic low back pain ...

Induction of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan synthesis and secretion in lymphocytes and monocytes

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1983
The ability of mononuclear leukocytes to synthesize and secrete proteoglycans was evaluated. Using radiolabeling with H2 35SO4, it is shown that peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and their major subpopulations (B cells, T cells, and monocytes ...

Injectable Chondroitin Sulfate Methacrylate Hydrogel Microspheres Co‐Loaded with GLPM Nanozyme, Dexamethasone, and Stem Cells for Synergistic Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional injectable microsphere system is fabricated via UV‐assisted microfluidic cross‐linking, integrating nanozyme‐based ROS scavenging, sustained dexamethasone release, and stem cell delivery. Upon IA injection, the microspheres adapt to joint stress, suppress inflammation, and promote cartilage regeneration, offering a minimally invasive ...

Research progress of chondroitin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan in diabetic kidney disease

open access: yesLinchuang shenzangbing zazhi, 2019
Diabetic kidney disease(DKD) is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus and an important global public health problem. Due to the complex pathogenesis of DKD, there is still few specific and effective treatment measures.

“Teaching old dogs new tricks”: targeting neural extracellular matrix for normal and pathological aging-related cognitive decline

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2019
Cognitive decline is a feature of normal and pathological aging. As the proportion of the global aged population continues to grow, it is imperative to understand the molecular and cellular substrates of cognitive aging for therapeutic discovery.

Integration of a miniaturized DMMB assay with high-throughput screening for identifying regulators of proteoglycan metabolism

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Defective biosynthesis or function of proteoglycans causes pathological conditions in a variety of tissue systems. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent degenerative joint disorder characterized by progressive cartilage destruction caused by imbalanced ...

Microglial Membranes Wrapped Ultrasmall Medium‐Entropy Ru Single‐Atom Nanozyme: Enhanced Catalysis for Accelerating Inflammation/Redox Microenvironment Regulation in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PtRhIr/Ru SAN@M nanozymes cross the blood–brain barrier and selectively accumulate in hemorrhagic brain regions. By mimicking multiple enzyme activities, they attenuate oxidative stress, modulate microglial polarization toward an anti‐inflammatory phenotype, inhibit ferroptosis, and promote neuronal repair.

Melanoma-associated Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan (MCSP)-targeted delivery of soluble TRAIL potently inhibits melanoma outgrowth in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2010
BackgroundAdvanced melanoma is characterized by a pronounced resistance to therapy leading to a limited patient survival of ~6 - 9 months. Here, we report on a novel bifunctional therapeutic fusion protein, designated anti-MCSP:TRAIL, that is comprised ...
