Investigating the Prevalence of Enterotoxin and Antibiotic Resistance in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Isolated From Meat and Edible Viscera of Broiler Chickens. [PDF]
The results indicated high prevalence of MRSA in broilers, which is very worrying issue. It was observed that due to the increase in the use of antibiotics in poultry farming, bacteria resistant to methicillin and other antibiotics have a high prevalence.

Cricoid chondronecrosis: a serious complication of prolonged endotracheal intubation
Cricoid chondronecrosis is a rare life-threatening complication of endotracheal intubation. Herein we present a patient with a history of severe brain injury, who developed a cricoid chondronecrosis after ICU stay. We discuss the diagnosis of the condition, the causative factors, treatment through a literature review.

Genome Analysis of Staphylococcus agnetis, an Agent of Lameness in Broiler Chickens. [PDF]
Lameness in broiler chickens is a significant animal welfare and financial issue. Lameness can be enhanced by rearing young broilers on wire flooring. We have identified Staphylococcus agnetis as significantly involved in bacterial chondronecrosis with ...

Endoscopic Management of a Hypopharyngeal-Subglottic Fistula: Case Series and Literature Review. [PDF]
A rare complication of prolonged intubation or laryngeal radiation is destruction of the posterior cricoid cartilage with resultant hypopharyngeal‐subglottic fistula leading to aspiration and inability to consume a regular diet. We describe a step‐by‐step endoscopic approach to the closure of a hypopharyngeal‐subglottic fistula.

Imaging appearance of a post-intubation cricoid chondronecrosis
Chondronecrosis is a known complication of external beam radiation therapy and endotracheal intubation. Radiation therapy is the most common cause of chondronecrosis owing to local cartilage ischaemia following treatment. Prolonged endotracheal intubation can lead to chondronecrosis as it is associated with excessive pressure on the cartilage by the ...
