An attempt to improve recognition of fetal acidemia by a remodeled intrapartum cardiotocography classification: A case–control study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1749-1760, September 2026.
Current CTG interpretation templates have shown low sensitivity or low specificity identifying fetuses with acidemia. This new interpretation template combined a high sensitivity with a high specificity. Validation on a new material is essential before considering clinical use.

Targeted Cauterization of Bleeding Cervical Polyps During Pregnancy: A Case Series

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Pregnancy‐associated cervical polyps have been linked to an increased risk of spontaneous late miscarriage and preterm delivery. In particular, bleeding cervical polyps, often suspected to be decidual in origin, may represent a high‐risk condition requiring clinical intervention.

Reevaluating the association between chorioamnionitis and cerebellar hemorrhage: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesPregnancy
Chorioamnionitis is a recognized risk factor for intraventricular hemorrhage and white matter injury in preterm infants. However, its association with cerebellar hemorrhage (CBH) remains controversial with conflicting evidence in the literature.

Peritoneal Tuberculosis Presenting as Massive Ascites in Pregnancy: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Abdominal tuberculosis, especially peritoneal tuberculosis, is uncommon in pregnancy. The diagnosis during pregnancy is a challenge due to many signs and symptoms being nonspecific and mimicking the symptoms of pregnancy. The presence of ascites, with anorexia and weight loss in pregnancy from endemic regions, should be addressed with ...

Transabdominal Cervical Cerclage in Aotearoa New Zealand—A Retrospective Observational Study of 16 Years' Experience

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Volume 66, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Transabdominal cervical cerclage (TACC) may be used for those at very high risk of spontaneous preterm birth, where transvaginal cerclage has been ineffective previously or is not possible. High‐quality randomised evidence supports the use of this relatively uncommon procedure, but there is no published experience of its use in ...

Placental basal plate with attached myofibers and adverse pregnancy outcomes: A systematic scoping review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 8, Page 1435-1444, August 2026.
The presence of basal plate myometrial fibers was associated with higher rates of placenta‐related pregnancy disorders and abnormal placental attachment in subsequent pregnancies, but heterogeneity in the data was found due to variable inclusion criteria, sampling methods, and reported outcomes.

Elevated Serum Neurofilament Light Chain Is Associated With Systemic Inflammation in Very Preterm Infants

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 8, Page 1785-1790, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Neurofilament light chain (NFL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) are known biomarkers of brain injury in adults, but their significance in very preterm (VPT) infants remains unclear. Given the strong link between inflammation, oxidative stress, and brain injury in this population, we investigated associations between NFL, GFAP ...
