Standardized reporting of amnion and amnion/chorion allograft data for wound care

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, 2022
Background The favorable biological and mechanical properties of the most common components of the placenta, the amnion and chorion, have been explored for regenerative medical indications. The use of the combination of amnion and chorion has also become

The Lipid Phosphate Phosphatase Wunen Promotes Eggshell Formation and Is Essential for Fertility in Drosophila

open access: yesBiology, 2023
The eggshell that surrounds insect eggs acts as a barrier, protecting against biotic factors and desiccation. The eggshell is a multi-layered structure which is synthesised by the somatic follicle cells that surround the developing oocyte.

Effect of broodstock holding environment on egg quality in farmed brown trout (Salmo trutta) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Brown trout (Salmo trutta) broodstock from a single population were separated prior to spawning and exposed to two different holding environments: a ‘raceway system’ and a ‘tank system’. Eggs were stripped from females and 13 measures of egg quality

Comparison of LPS-stimulated release of cytokines in punch versus transwell tissue culture systems of human gestational membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background Cytokine signaling within the amnionic, chorionic and decidual extraplacental gestational membranes plays an important role in membrane rupture and the timing of birth.

Copper Stress Response of Antibiotic‐Resistant and Copper‐Tolerant Enterococcus faecium and the Antibacterial Efficacy of Functionalized Copper Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study examines how different laser‐patterned copper and brass surfaces, including copper coatings, affect the survival of vancomycin‐resistant Enterococcus faecium. Using microscopy and genome analysis, the results show that copper tolerance varies between strains and can increase after vancomycin exposure.

Yellow-y Functions in Egg Melanization and Chorion Morphology of the Asian Tiger Mosquito, Aedes albopictus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
The Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus, is one of the most serious public health pests, which can transmit various vector-borne diseases. Eggs from this mosquito species become dark black shortly after oviposition and exhibit high desiccation ...

Studies of the reproductive biology and of the structure, composition and physiology of the egg of Graphognathus leocoloma Boheman (Coleoptera : Curculionidae): a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Zoology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The published information regarding the biology and pest status of Graphognathus leucoloma Boheman is summarized. A study was made of egg development at temperatures ranging from 4 to 37.8°C and relative humidities ranging from 40 to 100%.
