Caveolin‐1 Stabilizes SERCA2 to Counteract Acute Kidney Injury via Suppression of Ca2+‐Dependent Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Distal Tubules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 42, 28 July 2026.
In AKI, initial kidney injury upregulates the expression of Cav‐1, which subsequently binds to and stabilizes SERCA2 via its scaffolding domain and through deubiquitination, thereby regulating Ca2+ homeostasis and ER stress. Conversely, Cav‐1 deficiency accelerates SERCA2 degradation, triggering Ca2+ overload and ER stress, and ultimately exacerbating ...

Bilateral choroidal neovascular membrane in multifocal serpiginoid choroiditis in young children - Case report of two patients with swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography correlation

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology. Case Reports
We present two cases of bilateral multifocal serpiginoid choroiditis (MSC) in young children with latent tuberculosis infection. Vitritis was seen in both cases. Multiple recurrences were noticed over regular follow-up visits.

Differentiating the Clinical and Variant Spectrum of Hardikar Syndrome From Other MED12 ‐Related Developmental Disorders

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 7, Page 1619-1650, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The rare X‐linked female‐restricted Hardikar syndrome (HDKR, OMIM # 301068) is characterized by multiple congenital anomalies including orofacial clefts, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and cardiac anomalies, but cognitive and neurobehavioral development is rarely impaired.

ApoE‐ and Cfh‐deficient mice exhibit structural and molecular features of human early–intermediate retinal degeneration

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 7, Page 1420-1435, July 2026.
Age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) involves lipid dysregulation and complement overactivation. Here, we characterize a double‐knockout ApoE−/−/Cfh−/− mouse as a model of early–intermediate retinal degeneration. These mice exhibit retinal pigment epithelium thinning, Bruch's membrane thickening, lipid accumulation, enhanced C5b‐9 deposition ...
