Quantitative optical coherence tomography angiography of vascular abnormalities in the living human eye [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Retinal vascular diseases are important causes of vision loss. A detailed evaluation of the vascular abnormalities facilitates diagnosis and treatment in these diseases.

A fast protocol for photodynamic therapy in exudative choroidal circumscribed hemangioma: Early laser irradiance after end of verteporfin infusion

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of the study is to compare the risk of first‐line photodynamic therapy (PDT) failure according to the PDT protocol performed in patients with exudative choroidal circumscribed hemangioma (CCH). Methods We retrospectively included patients from 11 European centres in France, Italy and Denmark.

Choroidal neovascularization after cryoapplication

open access: yesAlbrecht von Graefes Archiv fr Klinische und Experimentelle Ophthalmologie, 1981
After sealing peripheral retinal tears in retinal detachment surgery by means of cryoapplications, neovascularization appeared, stemming from the choroidal circulation. This complication was noted in three cases of retinal detachment with tears in an area of latticelike degeneration.

Choroidal image analysis for OCT image sequences with applications in systemic health [PDF]

open access: yes
The choroid, a highly vascular layer behind the retina, is an extension of the central nervous system and has parallels with the renal cortex, with blood flow far exceeding that of the brain and kidney. Thus, there has been growing interest of choroidal blood flow reflecting physiological status of systemic disease.

Traitement des membranes néovasculaires myopiques par ranibizumab : résultats à long terme. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: To report our functional results of efficacy of intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) for submacular choroidal neovessels (CNV) in high myopia, and to compare the role of optical coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography (FA) and visual ...

Comparison of treatment routine using aflibercept: Strict vs. relaxed retreatment regimen (TOLERANT study)—A non‐inferiority, randomized controlled trial

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This trial evaluated the noninferiority of a relaxed compared to a strict treat‐and‐extend treatment strategy in patients with neovascular Age‐related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods Multicenter, randomized, controlled, phase IV, non‐inferiority clinical trial.

Somatostatin receptor 2A expression in choroidal neovascularization secondary to age-related macular degeneration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
PURPOSE: The growth of ocular neovascularization is regulated by a balance between stimulating and inhibiting growth factors. Somatostatin affects angiogenesis by inhibiting the growth hormone-insulin-like growth factor axis

BioNet: Infusing Biomarker Prior into Global-to-Local Network for Choroid Segmentation in Optical Coherence Tomography Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Choroid is the vascular layer of the eye, which is directly related to the incidence and severity of many ocular diseases. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is capable of imaging both the cross-sectional view of retina and choroid, but the segmentation of the choroid region is challenging because of the fuzzy choroid-sclera interface (CSI).

Ranibizumab e bevacizumab intravítreo no tratamento da neovascularização de coróide extrafoveal da degeneração macular relacionada à idade [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PURPOSE: To investigate the efficacy of vascular endothelial growth factor-specific (VEGF) monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of choroidal neovascularization secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that does not extend beneath the foveal ...

Prevalence of central serous chorioretinopathy in Denmark

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a prevalent maculopathy, but epidemiological studies are few. In this study, we determined the prevalence of CSC for the first time in a Scandinavian population. Methods This cross‐sectional study was based on nationwide opportunistic retinal examination from 79 high street chain optician ...
