Influence of Plantago ovata husk (dietary fiber) on the bioavailability and other pharmacokinetic parameters of metformin in diabetic rabbits

open access: yesBMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2017
Background Metformin is an oral hypoglycemic agent frequently used in patients with type 2 diabetes. In this study, we have investigated the influence of the dietary fiber Plantago ovata husk on the pharmacokinetics of this drug when included in the diet,

Chow groups of quadrics in characteristic two

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 2023
Let $X$ be a smooth projective quadric defined over a field of characteristic 2. We prove that in the Chow group of codimension 2 or 3 of $X$ the torsion subgroup has at most two elements. In codimension 2, we determine precisely when this torsion subgroup is nontrivial. In codimension 3, we show that there is no torsion if $\dim X\ge 11$. This extends

Exercise and/or Genistein Do Not Revert 24-Week High-Fat, High-Sugar Diet-Induced Gut Microbiota Diversity Changes in Male C57BL/6J Adult Mice

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2022
The gut microbiota (GM) has been hypothesized to be a potential mediator in the health benefits of exercise and diet. The current literature is focused on the prevention effects of exercise and diet and could benefit from exploring whether these ...

Algebraic cycles and EPW cubes

open access: yes, 2017
Let $X$ be a hyperk\"ahler variety with an anti-symplectic involution $\iota$. According to Beauville's conjectural "splitting property", the Chow groups of $X$ should split in a finite number of pieces such that the Chow ring has a bigrading.

Relative Chow groups

open access: yesIllinois Journal of Mathematics, 1991
The higher Chow groups of a regular scheme were defined by Bloch, furnishing a geometric interpretation for the higher \(K\)-groups. The sheaves of higher \(K\)-groups recover the full ordinary Chow groups, including torsion: formula of Bloch-Quillen, spectral sequence of Gersten.

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Effect of dietary cholesterol and alloxan-diabetes on tissue cholesterol and apolipoprotein E mRNA levels in the rabbit

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
Alloxan-diabetic rabbits develop hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia in response to cholesterol feeding. To determine whether alterations in apolipoprotein composition of plasma lipoproteins were due to changes in apolipoprotein gene expression,
