Metagenomic analysis of a high‐altitude hot spring in Tajikistan revealed a novel archaeal genus from the family Desulfurococcaceae: Zestomicrobium tamdykulense gen. nov., sp. nov., as a minor component of the microbial community. The spring was strongly dominated by the genus Meiothermus.
