Cement paste surface roughness analysis using Coherence Scanning Interferometry and Confocal Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Scanning electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy have been used for several decades to better understand the microstructure of cementitious materials. Very limited work has been performed to date to study the roughness of cementitious materials

Enabling precision coordinate metrology for universal optical testing and alignment applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Optical designs for the next generation space science instruments call for unconventional, aspheric, and freeform (FF), prescriptions with tight tolerances. These advanced surfaces enable superior-performance, compact, and lower cost systems but are more

Wavelength considerations in confocal microscopy of botanical specimens [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We have used a multiple-laser confocal microscope with lines 325, 442, 488, 514 and 633 nm to investigate optical sectioning of botanical specimens over a wide range of wavelengths.

Chromatic confocal sensor-based sub-aperture scanning and stitching for the measurement of microstructured optical surfaces.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
The noncontact optical probe-based surface scanning is promising for the measurement of complex-shaped optical surfaces. In this study, by combining a chromatic confocal sensor and a planar nano-positioning stage, a sub-aperture scanning and stitching ...

Theoretical aspects of analysis of selected sources of errors in profile measurements of surface asperities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the paper theoretical background regarding selected errors in profile methods of surface asperities measurements were presented. The influence of a tip was discussed for stylus (including geometry, pressure and flight) and optical probe basing on ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Ratiometric Mycotoxin Detection in Living Plants With Dual‐Emissive Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive microneedle patch integrates carbon dot‐embedded metal–organic frameworks as nanosensors to detect a key fungal toxin in living plants. The nanosensor produces a ratiometric fluorescence signal that enables early, non‐destructive diagnosis of fungal infection before visible symptoms, offering a new biomaterials‐based strategy for ...

Ambient Light‐Activatable Luminescent Particle‐Embedded Conformal Patch for Photochemical Tissue Bonding and Photobiomodulated Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a wearable photonic patch integrating room light‐ and sunlight‐activatable luminescent particles (RSLPs) for both photochemical tissue bonding and photobiomodulation. RSLPs harvest ambient light and emit red luminescence to drive chlorin e6–mediated collagen crosslinking.
