Chromosomal duplication in Giardia duodenalis
International Journal for Parasitology, 1993Strains of Giardia duodenalis from diverse parts of the world have three or four chromosomal bands in the range of 650-800 kb as defined by field inversion gel electrophoresis. The extra chromosome band in this range defined a group of strains which are geographically distinct from other strains missing this band.

When searching for HNF1B/17q12 rearrangements among children with biliary atresia and/or choledochal cysts, we identified a male proband carrying a 17q12 duplication spanning 1698 kb that included 24 genes from TBC1D3C to HNF1B.

Inverted tandem duplication generates a duplication deficiency of chromosome 8p
Clinical Genetics, 1987An adult female with severe mental retardation and dysmorphic features is described. A de novo chromosomal aberration involving 8p was found. The karyotype was 46, XX, inv dup (8) (pl2→p23.1). Dosage studies with the DNA probe D8S7, which is located at 8p23→8pter, showed that the patient was monosomic for this marker.
