Identification of bacterial cells by chromosomal painting
Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1997Chromosomal painting is a technique for the microscopic localization of genetic material. It has been applied at the subcellular level to identify regions of eukaryotic chromosomes. Here we describe the development of bacterial chromosomal painting (BCP), a related technology for the identification of bacterial cells.

Marker chromosome identification by micro‐FISH
Clinical Genetics, 1996Micro‐FISH was used to elucidate the chromosomal origin of marker chromosomes in three patients. Ten copies of marker chromosomes were collected with microneedles from GTG banded metaphases, transferred to a collecting drop and amplified by means of DOP‐PCR.

Orcein Staining and the Identification of Polytene Chromosomes
2004Acetic orcein staining of polytene chromosomes was introduced in 1941 shortly after the initial studies on aceto-carmine-stained chromosomes by Bridges (2) and has remained a standard method of preparation. Orcein dye can be purchased in both its natural form as extracted from two species of lichens, Rocella tinctoria and Lecanora parella, and a ...

Identification of chromosome markers in interphase nuclei.
Basic and applied histochemistry, 1981The chromosome complement of the mosquito Cuilseta longiareolata (2n=6) reveals distinguishable centromeric regions and one telomere of the Y chromosome by using light-induced differentiation and autoradiographic techniques in mitotic and premeiotic interphase nuclei.

Chromosome banding for identification of the chromosomes of Norway spruce
Forest genetics, 1996Images of Picea abies (L.) Karst. chromosomes (2n=2x=24) were taken through a light microscope equipped with a video camera and digitized by image analysis equipment. The originalimage was enhanced with electronic filters and arithmetic operations, e.g., background correction.
