IDENTIFICATION OF THE MOUSE CHROMOSOMES BY MICRODENSITOMETRY
Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1976Densitometric analysis has been performed on mouse chromosomes from "in vivo" preparations stained with Giemsa after trypsinisation. The characteristic curves obtained by analysing the same chromosome after different durations of trypsinisation suggest that a trypsinisation step is not always necessary to get an analysable banding pattern.

Chromosomal aberrations: formation, identification and distribution
Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 2002Chromosomal aberrations (CA) are the microscopically visible part of a wide spectrum of DNA changes generated by different repair mechanisms of DNA double strand breaks (DSB). The method of fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) has uncovered unexpected complexities of CA and this will lead to changes in our thinking about the origin of CA.

Chromosome Identification by Fluorescence
Hospital Practice, 1972In a brief three years this new technique has already demonstrated its remarkable utility as a tool for unlocking the secrets of heredity. By enabling every one of the 24 human chromosome types to be identified unequivocally, it is clarifying such problems as trisomies and translocations, providing information of immediate applicability to genetic ...

Identification of Pseudogenes in Brachypodium distachyon Chromosomes
2017Pseudogenes are gene copies that have lost the capability to encode a functional protein. Based on their structure, pseudogenes are classified in two types. Processed pseudogenes arise by a process of retrotranscription from a spliced mRNA and subsequent integration into the genome.

Hidden Markov models for chromosome identification
Proceedings 14th IEEE Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems. CBMS 2001, 2002Presents a hidden Markov model for automatic karyotyping. Previously, we demonstrated that this method is robust in the presence of different types of metaphase spreads, truncation of chromosomes and minor chromosome abnormalities, and that it gives results superior to neural networks on standard data sets.

Accurate identification of the human Y chromosome
Clinical Genetics, 1974Examination by light microscopy of cells of various constitutions with one Y, two Ys, or no Y was made by six experienced cytogeneticists in order to ascertain accuracy in identification of the Y chromosome by morphologic criteria. Results showed that this approach is subject to error, especially if the quality of the spreads is not very good.

Identification of Trypanosomes by Chromosomes
Nature, 1944FOLLOWING a suggestion by Dr. H. Fairbairn, sleeping sickness officer, Tanganyika Territory, namely, that it might be possible to distinguish Trypanosoma brucei, gambiense and rhodesiense by the appearance, or the number, of chromosomes in each, the majority of the recognized chromosome-staining techniques were explored.

Identification of Marker Chromosomes in Bladder Tumor
Urologia Internationalis, 2010Sequential staining with Giemsa and quinacrine mustard on direct cytogenetic preparations was employed to characterize the karyotype of five bladder tumors of different stage and grade (TNM classification). The use of QFQ-banding allowed: (a) the characterization of 2 euploid and 1 pseudodiploid cases, and (b) the identification, in the two ...

Quantitative identification of banded human chromosomes
Clinical Genetics, 1982A method of measuring the banding patterns of G‐banded human chromosomes is described. On the basis of the measurements, band profiles of normal human chromosomes were assembled, and normal chromosomes were tested against the mean profile to produce quantitated estimates of the similarities between individual chromosomes and the composite profiles. The

G-Band Identification of the Chromosomes of Sheep
Journal of Heredity, 1975Peripheral blood cultures were made on 20 Dorset sheep including 16 ewes and 4 rams. Photomicrographs of 100 cells were examined for trypsin-induced G-bands, and the length of each chromosome was measured. The banding patterns of each of the 27 pairs of chromosomes were identified and described, and the results observed in this study were compared with
