Somatic pairing of chromosome 1 centromeres in interphase nuclei of human cerebellum
Human Genetics, 1989Interphase nuclei isolated from paraffin-embedded tissue of four normal brains were hybridized with biotinated repetitive DNA probes specific for the (peri)centromeric regions of chromosomes 1 and 7. Hybridization results were visualized with a peroxidase-DAB system after which the number of specific signals per nucleus was counted using bright field ...

Heterochromatin blocks of chromosome pairs 1, 9 and 16 as a ‘marker’ for human diploid cells Wi-38
Journal of Biological Standardization, 1976In analyzing human diploid cell strain Wi-38, by the use of C-bands, we have found that hetercchromatin blocks are equal on chromosome pairs 1 and 16, but are unequal on chromosome pair 9. These characteristics of the karyotype of Wi-38 cells may be used as a ‘marker’ for their identification.

Diabetes, 1998
Type 1 diabetes is a common multifactorial disease that is strongly clustered in families: the sibling risk-to-population prevalence ratio (λ s ) is 15 (6%/0.4%). Two loci, IDDM1 in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on chromosome 6p21 and IDDM2 in the insulin gene ( INS ) region of chromosome 11p15.5 can account for similar to 50% of the ...

Distributions of AT- and GC-base pairs along the length of chromosomes 1, 2, 3 and 16 in primary cultures of embryonic fibroblasts and of peripheral blood leucocytes were studied by autoradiography with: 1. 3H-thymidine and 3H-deoxycytidine; 2. 3H-deoxyadenosine and 3H-deoxyguanosine.
