HYDROCARBON EXPOSURE AND CHRONIC GLOMERULONEPHRITIS

The Lancet, 1975
63 adult patients with advanced renal failure were interviewed to evaluate their exposure to chronically contacted or inhaled toxic substances. Grading of exposure revealed that patients with biopsy-proven primary proliferative glomerulonephritis and patients with a clinical presentation consistent with glomerulonephritis had significantly greater ...

Hypertension and Chronic Exposure to Noise

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 2000
The effects of noise on various cardiovascular parameters are conflicting and uncertain. In the current study, the authors studied 52 workers who were employed in a bedframe factory who were chronically exposed to noise and who had poor hearing. An additional group of 65 workers who had jobs in the light-metal sector and another group of 64 office ...

Chronic lead exposure and pregnancy

International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine, 1994
The objective of the study was to determine the effect of chronic lead exposure on pregnancy and the newborn. Cord blood was assayed for blood lead levels (PbB) in a randomly selected group of 82 Maltese newborns. Twenty-eight (34.1%) neonates had a PbB level greater than 200 μg/l.

Chronic occupational exposure to toluene

International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1981
Chronic occupational exposure to toluene was studied in a factory preparing tarpaulins. Seventy-eight workers were studied; 46 were exposed to various concentrations of toluene in air (20--200 ppm), 32 were unexposed workers in the same factory. In many cases the exposure had lasted for 10--20 years.

RE-EXPOSURE OF MALLARDS TO SELENIUM AFTER CHRONIC EXPOSURE

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1993
Abstract Adult male mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) were fed a control diet or a diet containing 15 ppm selenium as seleno-D,L-methionine for 21 weeks. After this initial exposure, the mallards were fed untreated food for 12 weeks, then were re-exposed to selenium at 100 ppm for five weeks. During re-exposure to 100 ppm selenium, the birds

The chronic effects of sulfur mustard exposure

Toxicology, 2009
Whilst the acute effects of sulfur mustard have been relatively well characterised, the chronic effects of short term but significant exposures are still evolving. The approximately 30,000 Iranian victims of CW exposure from the 1980 to 1988 Iran-Iraq war who are currently being followed form a key population who are now 20 years post-exposure. The key

The Chronic Exposure Case

Occupational hydrocarbon exposure and chronic nephropathy

Toxicology, 1994
This review aims at discussing the questions raised by the hydrocarbon-related chronic nephropathy and its possible consequence, the hydrocarbon-related chronic renal failure. It has been attempted to adopt the point of view of the clinician. Therefore, the most important part of the review is devoted to a presentation and an analysis of the available ...

Hydrocarbon exposure and chronic renal disease

International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1996
The study objective was to investigate further the potential role of long-term exposure to hydrocarbons (HCs) in the development of idiopathic chronic glomerulopathy (ICG) using a more refined measurement of HC exposure. A total of 321 pairs of cases and controls, matched by age, gender, and geographical area, were assembled.
