Sleep–wake study in an animal model of acute and chronic heat stress
Physiology & Behavior, 2006The study of the variations in different parameters of sleep-wake states following exposure to high environmental heat in three different age groups of freely moving rats have been presented in this paper. Each age group of rats was subdivided in three group (i) acute heat stress--subjected to a single exposure for 4 h in the BOD (Biological Oxygen ...

Phytotron studies were conducted to compare the potential effects of chronic high-temperatures (daily maxima of over 20˚C) and heat-shock conditions (a few days of over 32˚C), on wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) yield and quality, to form a basis for the selection of improved high-temperature tolerance in wheat.

Edaravone’s reno-protective effects against chronic heat-stress exposure
Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of PharmacologyEdaravone (EDV) is a potent antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. It is used to treat various diseases, especially neurodegenerative diseases. This study aims to examine EDV's potential renal protective effects on kidney injury induced by heat stress in rats.

THE EFFECT OF CHRONIC HEAT STRESS ON THE URINARY SYSTEM PATHOLOGY OF BROILERS
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2003Thirty six, one day old broiler chicks were obtained from a commercial hatchery. They were brooded for 20 days before being placed in layer cages, with a wire floor, at 26-28oC, for a 7 day adaptation period. On day 28, the broilers were transferred into environmentally controlled housing, at 26-28oC, and were subjected to heat stress for 5 hrs, at a ...

Chronic Heat Shock Stress Impairs Myoblast Proliferation and Differentiation
The FASEB Journal, 2017Heat‐related illness and injury are becoming a growing safety concern for the agricultural, construction workers, miners, firefighters, manufacturing workers and other outdoor workforces who are exposed to heat stress (HS) in their routine lives. A primary response by a cell to an acute HS exposure is the induction of heat‐shock proteins (HSPs) that ...

Heat Shock Protein 27 in Chronic Allograft Nephropathy: A Local Stress Response
Transplantation, 2005Heat shock protein (HSP) 27 plays a cytoprotective role through its antioxidant, antiapoptotic, and actin-stabilizing properties during cell stress. The authors hypothesized that HSP27 is involved in chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN), a chronic state of inflammation and stress. The authors used the Fisher 344-to-Lewis model of CAN.

Some aspects of placental function in chronically heat-stressed ewes.
Journal of developmental physiology, 1987Pregnant ewes were exposed continuously to high ambient temperature (38-40 degrees C for 9 h, 30-32 degrees C for 15 h daily, relative humidity 40-50%) between about 45 days and 120 days of gestation and studied at 132-137 days. Results were compared with those of ewes of similar gestational age which were not exposed to heat at any stage of pregnancy.

Acclimation of lactating cows to chronic heat stress
Two lactating cows were individually exposed, in a temperature- controlled room, to diurnally varying temperatures ranging from morning ambient temperature of 21 °C to a peak afternoon temperature of 34°C for a period of 10 weeks after an initial period of 8 weeks in the ambient temperature of 21°C.openaire +1 more source
