Chronic Toxicity of Metrifonate

Acta Pharmacologica et Toxicologica, 1981
Abstract From chronic toxicity studies with metrifonate (identical with trichlorfon) on different animal species, the following conclusion can be reached: 1. There is no conclusive evidence that trichlorfon has a carcinogenic effect. 2. There is no indication that trichlorfon has a significant cumulative toxic effect. 3.

Chronic Toxicity of Polyphenyl Mixtures

American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1965
Abstract In rats the ingestion of Santowax OM, a mixture of terphenyls used as a coolant, and Omre High Boilers over prolonged periods inhibits weight gain and leads to anemia and kidney and liver damage. At a daily dietary intake of 350 mg/kg or more, Santowax OM produces degenerative changes in the nephron; the Omre High Boilers at a daily dietary ...

Modeling Oral Rat Chronic Toxicity

Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2008
The chronic toxicity is fundamental for toxicological risk assessment, but its correlation with the chemical structures has been studied only little. This is partly due to the complexity of such an experimental test that embraces a plethora of different biological effects and mechanisms of action, making (Q)SAR studies extremely challenging.

Megacolon: Acute, toxic, and chronic

Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, 1999
Megacolon refers to cecal dilatation above the dimension of 12 cm and above 6.5 cm of the sigmoid colon, measured at the pelvic brim. Dilatation of the colon can be broadly categorized into three clinical entities: In acute megacolon (Ogilvie's syndrome), colonic dilatation is attributed to a sympathetically mediated reflex response to a number of ...

Solvent‐induced chronic toxic encephalopathy

American Journal of Industrial Medicine, 1993
AbstractChlorinated solvents, especially trichloroethylene, have been extensively used for metal degreasing since the beginning of this century. There have been case reports of cranial nerve damage and symptoms of acute and reversible encephalopathy.

Gadolinium Deposition and Chronic Toxicity

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 2017
Clinicians, radiologists, and patients should be aware of the most up-to-date data on the risks of gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) administration. In this review, we discuss in vivo gadolinium retention, particularly brain tissue retention, and potential toxic effects. GBCA pharmacokinetics and biodistribution are reviewed briefly.

Chronic toxicity of Gynostemma pentaphyllum

Fitoterapia, 2004
The effect of water extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum was evaluated on 6-month chronic toxicity in Wistar rats. Control group received orally 10 ml kg(-1) day(-1). The extract was orally given to the five treatment groups at the doses of 6, 30, 150, 750 and 750 mg kg(-1) day(-1) for 24 weeks. The last group served as the recovery group.

Acute and Chronic Fluoride Toxicity

Journal of Dental Research, 1992
Compared with the latter half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, the frequency of fatalities stemming from the ingestion of fluoride compounds has declined dramatically. Since 1978, there have been four fatalities caused by the ingestion of fluoride, all in dental products. The numbers of exposures to fluoride doses that cause
