The collective application of shorebird tracking data to conservation

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Addressing urgent conservation issues, such as the drastic declines of North American migratory birds, requires creative, evidence‐based, efficient, and collaborative approaches. The abundance of over 50% of monitored North American shorebird populations has declined by over 50% since 1980. To address these declines, we developed a partnership

Large Language Models and Transformer Architecture in Electricity Price Forecasting [PDF]

open access: yesOvidius University Annals: Economic Sciences Series
Our research explores the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) and transformerbased architectures to the task of forecasting electricity prices in Romania’s Day-Ahead Market (DAM) and Intraday Continuous Market (IDC). Using Amazon Chronos, a deep

Time series foundation model chronos enhances nitrogen forecasting under data scarcity

open access: yesWater Research X
Accurate water quality prediction is critical for water resource management, yet task-specific models are often limited by their reliance on extensive training data. The emergence of large time series foundation models presents a promising yet unexplored

Interstitial 11q Deletions and Terminal 11q Duplications Cause a Bleeding Tendency due to Platelet Dysfunction That Is Similar to 11q Deletions Causing Jacobsen Syndrome

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Jacobsen syndrome, resulting from a terminal deletion of chromosome 11 (11q), may lead to an increased bleeding tendency due to low platelet counts or platelet dysfunction. Currently, information on bleeding tendency and platelet function in patients with nonterminal 11q‐aberrations such as larger deletions, interstitial 11q ...

Tyrosine residues at the substrate binding site in human NQO1 homodimer: Protein conformational dynamics and optimization of substrate binding geometry

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Human NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 is a homodimeric flavoenzyme crucial for redox metabolism and linked to significant health issues. Point mutations at Tyr126 and Tyr128 demonstrate their essential roles in optimizing substrate binding geometry for catalysis, as well as in half‐site reactivity and conformational dynamics during the enzyme's ...

ALOX15 mediates thrombin‐induced myristoylation, trafficking, and interaction of protease‐activated receptors, leading to platelet activation and hemostasis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The role of PARs in platelet function is fairly known; however, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. We report that thrombin myristoylates PAR4 in mouse platelets and PAR1 and PAR4 in human platelets, facilitating their membrane transport and interaction, leading to PAR3/4 heterodimers in mice and PAR1/4 heterodimers in humans.
