Environmental Filtering Influences Functional Community Assembly of Epibenthic Communities
Community assembly theory states that species assemble non-randomly as a result of dispersal limitation, biotic interactions, and environmental filtering.

The expected reduction of ice algae with declining sea ice may prove to be detrimental to the Pacific Arctic ecosystem. Benthic organisms that rely on sea ice organic carbon (iPOC) sustain benthic predators such as the Pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus ...

Spatial Variability and Factors Influencing the Air-Sea N2O Flux in the Bering Sea, Chukchi Sea and Chukchi Abyssal Plain [PDF]
The concentrations of the ozone-depleting greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N2O) in the upper 300 m of the Subarctic and Arctic Oceans determined during the 5th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition were studied. The surface water samples revealed that the study area could be divided into three regions according to the distribution of dissolved N2O ...

Feeding of walleye pollock and its feeding base in the Chukchi Sea in summer-autumn period
Data on feeding of walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus (3–70 cm long) in the Chukchi Sea in summer-autumn of 2017–2020 are presented. The food base includes zooplankton, benthic invertebrates and fish. The juveniles in the northwestern

Emerging trends in the sea state of the Beaufort and Chukchi seas [PDF]
The sea state of the Beaufort and Chukchi seas is controlled by the wind forcing and the amount of ice-free water available to generate surface waves. Clear trends in the annual duration of the open water season and in the extent of the seasonal sea ice minimum suggest that the sea state should be increasing, independent of changes in the wind forcing.

Sea-ice cover across the Arctic has declined rapidly over the past several decades owing to amplified climate warming. The Pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens) relies on sea-ice floes in the St. Lawrence Island (SLI) and Wainwright regions of the
