Summer net community production in the northern Chukchi Sea: Comparison between 2017 and 2020
The Arctic Ocean environment is drastically changing because of global warming. Although warming-induced processes, such as the decrease in sea-ice extent and freshening of the surface layer, have the potential to alter primary production, the changes ...

Subarctic Cetaceans in the Southern Chukchi Sea: Evidence of Recovery or Response to a Changing Ecosystem [PDF]
The southern Chukchi Sea is one of the most productive areas in the world ocean. Over the past decade, there have been dramatic changes in this region in sea ice cover and in Bering Strait inflow, and it is now in the path of transpolar shipping and ...

To compare trophic characteristics for pelagic and bottom communities of zooplankton and zoobenthos in the western Chukchi Sea, isotopic composition of carbon and nitrogen (δ13С and δ15N) is determined for three different types of water masses.

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

Low-Level Atmospheric Responses to the Sea Surface Temperature Fronts in the Chukchi and Bering Seas
Atmospheric responses to ocean surface temperature (ST) fronts related to western boundary currents have been extensively analyzed over the last two decades.

Summer Chukchi Sea Near-Surface Salinity Variability in Satellite Observations and Ocean Models
The Chukchi Sea is an open estuary in the southwestern Arctic. Its near-surface salinities are higher than those of the surrounding open Arctic waters due to the key inflow of saltier and warmer Pacific waters through the Bering Strait.

Latitudinal distribution of biomarkers across the western Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea: an approach to assess sympagic and pelagic algal production [PDF]
The drastic decline of Arctic sea ice due to global warming and polar amplification of environmental changes in the Arctic basin profoundly alter primary production with consequences for polar ecosystems and the carbon cycle. In this study, we use highly

Abstract High‐latitude ecosystems are simultaneously warming and acidifying under ongoing climate change. Arctic cod (Boreogadus saida) are a key species in the Arctic Ocean and have demonstrated sensitivity to ocean warming and acidification as adults and embryos, but their larval sensitivity to the combined stressors is unknown. In a laboratory multi‐
