Growth and maturation of Korean chum salmon under changing environmental conditions [PDF]
Salmon populations in the North Pacific have been subject to major changes in environment and fishing pressure since the early 1980s, including a climate regime shift in 1988-89, the closure of the high-seas fisheries in 1993, and a subsequent climatic ...

Unraveling multipredator impacts in salmon‐bearing rivers using quantitative DNA metabarcoding
Abstract Ecological impacts of invasive species are mounting as their numbers and geographic extent continue to increase. Across extensive parts of their range, Pacific salmon (Oncorhynchus spp.) smolts face an expanding gauntlet of nonnative predators during their seaward migration.

Administration of 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) to sexually immature chum salmon Oncorhynchus keta induced the nuptial coloration. MT-treated chum salmon at the feeding migration stage in the North Pacific Ocean might correspond to those at the spawning migration stage as judged from the following changes: protein and lipid contents in muscle, high ...

We investigated trophic interactions between two sympatric fish species, Pennahia argentata and Larimichthys polyactis, using bulk and compound‐specific stable isotope analyses. CSIA of amino acids revealed similar trophic positions but distinct δ15N baselines, indicating ontogenetic niche shifts and offshore migration patterns.
