THE CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF CHYMOTRYPSIN
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1964Chemical modification of chymotrypsin has led to the identification of several amino acid side-chains which are probably constituents of the active site of the enzyme. A single seryl and a single histidyl residue appear to cooperate in catalyzing the bond-breaking process while one or more tryptophanyl residues may be involved in the specific binding ...

Adhesive Otitis and Chymotrypsin
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1964The chemistry, biochemistry and previous clinical experiences with chymotrypsin is briefly mentioned. This preliminary report states the principles of treatment and early results in a number of patients with chronic secretory otitis media.

On the inhibition of chymotrypsin by ovomucoid
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1960Abstract A study has been made of the inhibition of chymotrypsin by ovomucoid. Marked inhibition is obtained only at high ovomucoid to chymotrypsin ratios. Electrophoretic and ultracentrifugal experiments show that this inhibition is accompanied by complex formation between the two proteins.

International audienceAbstract Background and Purpose Chymotrypsin is a pancreatic protease secreted into the lumen of the small intestine to digest food proteins. We hypothesized that chymotrypsin activity may be found close to epithelial cells and that

Studies of the activity of chymotrypsin
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1970Abstract Physical and chemical studies of chymotrypsin in solution and kinetic measurements of individual steps in reactions catalysed by this hydrolytic enzyme are reported. The solution studies also provide a basis for correlation of individual reaction steps with structural information obtained by Drs Blow and Hartley and discussed

A Smart Bioconjugate of Chymotrypsin
Biomacromolecules, 2003alpha-Chymotrypsin was immobilized on Eudragit S-100 via covalent coupling with 93% retention of proteolytic activity. The conjugate behaved as a smart biocatalyst and functioned as a pH-dependent reversibly soluble-insoluble biocatalyst. The pH optimum of chymotrypsin broadened on immobilization, and the immobilized preparation showed better stability

Coaggregate of trypsin and chymotrypsin
Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1988AbstractThe method of chemical aggregation of enzymes has the advantage of yielding an immobilized enzyme preparation wherein reactor volume can be significantly reduced because of the absence of an inert carrier. A coaggregate of trypsin and chymotrypsin formed by extensive cross‐linking with glutaraldehyde is described. A significant property of this

Inactivation of kinins by chymotrypsin
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1976Abstract The inactivation rate of synthetic bradykinin (BK) by different samples of crystallized α-chymotrypsin at pH 7.0, 30° and a 1:10 enzyme/substrate molar ratio was reduced in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline. Selective inaetivation of the samples by preincubation with l -(1-tosylamido-2-phenyl) ethyl-chloromethylketone (TPCK) in 1:10 ...

ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION TO CHYMOTRYPSIN
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1960Proteolytic enzyme therapy has been employed in various diseases in which its anti-inflammatory and fibrinolytic effects have been of value. Among such agents, aqueous chymotrypsin (Chymar) has been described as relatively free of undesirable side-effects.

The structure of an insect chymotrypsin
Journal of Molecular Biology, 2000The South American imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta), without natural enemies in the United States, widely infests the southern United States, causing more than a half billion dollars in health and agriculture-related damage annually in Texas alone.
