We have examined the reaction of N-(benzyloxycarbonyl)-L-alanyl-L-glycyl-L-phenylalanyl chloromethyl ketone (ZAGFCMK) with chymotrypsin (Cht) and have found that, in addition to irreversible alkylation of the enzyme, some of the corresponding hydroxymethyl ketone is produced. For each molecule of hydroxy ketone formed, 3.6 molecules of chymotrypsin are

Studies of the activity of chymotrypsin
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1970Physical and chemical studies of chymotrypsin in solution and kinetic measurements of individual steps in reactions catalysed by this hydrolytic enzyme are reported. The solution studies also provide a basis for correlation of individual reaction steps with structural information obtained by Drs Blow and Hartley and discussed at this ...

On the inhibition of chymotrypsin by ovomucoid
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1960Abstract A study has been made of the inhibition of chymotrypsin by ovomucoid. Marked inhibition is obtained only at high ovomucoid to chymotrypsin ratios. Electrophoretic and ultracentrifugal experiments show that this inhibition is accompanied by complex formation between the two proteins.

Adhesive Otitis and Chymotrypsin
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1964The chemistry, biochemistry and previous clinical experiences with chymotrypsin is briefly mentioned. This preliminary report states the principles of treatment and early results in a number of patients with chronic secretory otitis media.

Method development and optimization for measuring chymotrypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitor activities
Journal of Food Science, 2022AbstractProtease inhibitors of protein nature are rich in seeds of legume crops. There are two common types: Kunitz inhibitor, which mainly inhibits trypsin, and Bowman–Birk inhibitor, which inhibits both trypsin and chymotrypsin. Historically, trypsin inhibitor activity in legume products has been of primary interest for measurement. However, as plant

Trypsin and chymotrypsin during metamorphosis in Aedes aegypti and properties of the chymotrypsin
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1971Trypsin and chymotrypsin occurred in the midgut of all stages of Aedes aegypti. In larvae and pharate pupae, both enzymes were very active, whereas only trypsin was highly active in adult females after a blood meal. the low activity of trypsin and chymotrypsin between the larval-pupal and pupal-adult ecdyses presumably relates to the lack of feeding ...

Is .gamma.-chymotrypsin a tetrapeptide acyl-enzyme adduct of .alpha.-chymotrypsin?
Biochemistry, 1989Refinement of the structure of gamma-chymotrypsin based on X-ray crystallographic data to 1.6-A resolution has confirmed the overall conformation of the molecule as reported previously [Cohen, G. H., Silverton, E. W., & Davies, D. R. (1981) J. Mol. Biol. 148, 449-479].

Sedimentation equilibrium studies of human chymotrypsin II and bovine δ-chymotrypsin
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1973Abstract Sedimentation equilibrium experiments indicate that neither human chymotrypsin II nor bovine δ-chymotrypsin molecules undergo association in the pH range 3–5 where dimerization occurs with α-chymotrypsin. The weight-average molecular weights of human chymotrypsin II and δ-chymotrypsin in a pH 4.4 0.1 ionic strength buffer are 26,200 and 26 ...

Abstract The Bratton-Marshall test for naphthylamine has been modified and adapted to determine the naphthylamine released on hydrolysis of the specific chymotrypsin substrate glutaryl- l -phenylalanine-β-naphthylamide. This substrate shows advantages over others used in similar procedures because it combines satisfactorily solubility, specificity ...
