Biological Pesticides as Viable Alternative to Synthetic Pesticides for Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The overuse of synthetic pesticides in agriculture has raised significant environmental and health concerns. Biopesticides have emerged as viable, environmentally compatible alternatives. However, recent comprehensive reviews integrating all biopesticide categories and emphasizing their contribution to synthetic‐pesticide‐free and health‐safe ...

Changes in levels of biomarkers of exposure and biological effect in a controlled study of smokers switched from conventional cigarettes to reduced-toxicant-prototype cigarettes

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundDevelopment of cigarettes that reduce exposure to harmful smoke constituents is a suggested tobacco harm reduction strategy, but robust methods for measurement of change are required.

Comparative Effects of Cigarette and Hookah Smoking on Oral Microbiota Composition and Blood Indices in Young Adult Males

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study examined 87 healthy young males to compare the effects of cigarette and hookah smoking on oral microbiota and hematological parameters. Cigarette smokers showed the highest oral bacterial load and greater colonization by Candida albicans and Gram‐positive cocci, while hookah smokers also exhibited elevated microbial levels.

Image1_Differential modulation of lung aquaporins among other pathophysiological markers in acute (Cl2 gas) and chronic (carbon nanoparticles, cigarette smoke) respiratory toxicity mouse models.JPEG

open access: yes, 2022
Inhaled toxic chemicals and particulates are known to disrupt lung homeostasis causing pulmonary toxicity and tissue injury. However, biomarkers of such exposures and their underlying mechanisms are poorly understood, especially for emerging toxicants ...

AcrySof toric intraocular lens for post-keratoplasty astigmatism

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
We report a 63-year-old male who had undergone left eye optical penetrating keratoplasty for central leucomatous corneal opacity 10 years earlier. The eye had clear donor graft with residual astigmatism of −6.50 diopter cylinder (DC) at 30°.

Changes in levels of biomarkers of exposure observed in a controlled study of smokers switched from conventional to reduced toxicant prototype cigarettes

open access: yes, 2013
Reduced toxicant prototype (RTP) cigarettes with substantially reduced levels of tobacco smoke toxicants have been developed. Evaluation of these prototype cigarettes included measurement of biomarkers of exposure (BoE) to toxicants in smokers switched ...
