New cycloartane triterpenes from the aerial parts of Cimicifuga heracleifolia
Twelve new cycloartane triterpenes (1-12), as well as five known constituents (13-17), were isolated from the aerial parts of Cimicifuga heradeifolia. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods.

Antioxidant activity and mechanism of Rhizoma Cimicifugae [PDF]
As a typical Chinese herbal medicine, rhizoma Cimicifugae (RC, in Chinese) possesses various pharmacological effects involved in antioxidant activity. However, its antioxidant activity has not been reported so far. The aim of the present study was to systematically evaluate the antioxidant ability of RC in vitro, then discuss the mechanism.Firstly ...

Abstract Premise Seed longevity is critical for successful genebanking, but it is hard to detect or predict. We examined survival of genebanked seeds from species native to the United States to estimate longevity. We tested whether RNA integrity (RIN) can be used to detect aging and predict mortality. Methods Dry seeds from >100 species were stored for

Abstract Premise Genebanks must maintain viable seeds for decades. Seeds that germinate are clearly alive, but some seeds, often from wild populations, do not germinate because they are dormant, empty, aged, or damaged (D.E.A.D.). This work evaluates the effects of D.E.A.D.
