Antioxidant Activities of Cinnamaldehyde Derivatives
The modification structures of cinnamaldehyde, which was isolated from cinnamon oil, has been carried out. The synthesized compounds were tested their antioxidant activity by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay and the IC50 was done by spectrophotometric assay method compared with standard vitamin E.

ABSTRACT Background Oral lichen planus (OLP) and recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) are considered the most painful oral inflammatory diseases, with high global prevalence and significant impacts on patients' quality of life. In the last decades, researchers have been exploring mucoadhesive drug delivery systems (MDDS) to improve drugs safety and ...

ABSTRACT Mentha spicata L. (spearmint) is a high‐value aromatic and medicinal species, whose productivity is strongly affected by water deficit. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying drought acclimation in this mint remain largely unexplored. Thus, here, we investigated the microRNA‐mediated regulatory processes triggered in M.

Use of enhanced nisin derivatives in combination with food-grade oils or citric acid to control Cronobacter sakazakii and Escherichia coli O157:H7 [PDF]
Cronobacter sakazakii and Escherichia coli O157:H7 are well known food-borne pathogens that can cause severe disease. The identification of new alternatives to heating to control these pathogens in foods, while reducing the impact on organoleptic ...

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Abstract Peri‐implant diseases are dysbiosis‐mediated inflammatory disorders that occur in susceptible hosts. Antimicrobials and immunomodulatory agents therefore might be pertinent as adjunctive measures in the treatment of such disorders. The aim of this narrative review was to examine the existing evidence and assess the effectiveness of emerging ...

Synergistic Inhibitory Effect and Mechanism of Action of Cinnamaldehyde‐Carvacrol Nanoemulsion on the Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli Mixed Biofilms Formation [PDF]
The study prepared Cinnamaldehyde‐Carvacrol nanoemulsions (CA/CV NEs) through high‐energy emulsification. In a mouse infection model, CA/CV NEs exhibited a synergistic inhibitory effect on the formation of Staphylococcus aureus–Escherichia coli mixed biofilms, reducing PIA, LuxS/AI‐2, adhesion, athletic ability, and extracellular protein.

Repellent, irritant and toxic effects of essential oil constituents on Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) [PDF]
Whiteflies, Bemisia tabaci, are a widespread pest in agriculture, causing crop loss up to 100% by direct and indirect damage. Controlling this pest has proven difficult due to the fact that they stay underside the leaves and their ability to become ...

The alpha-effect in cyclic secondary amines: new scaffolds for iminium ion accelerated transformations [PDF]
Five-membered secondary amine heterocycles containing an α-heteroatom were prepared and shown to be ineffective as catalysts for the iminium ion catalysed Diels–Alder reaction between cinnamaldehyde and cyclopentadiene.
