The identification of naturally occurring cinnamic acid derivatives

Phytochemistry, 1963
Abstract Boron trichloride demethylates and deesterifies naturally occurring methoxy and hydroxy cinnamic acid derivatives. In the presence of methanol, the halide produces the corresponding methyl cinnamate. The procedure, m conjunction with paper chromatography and electrophoresis, may be used to classify cinnamic acids in plant tissues into one or

Electrochemical Methoxylation of Cinnamic Acid and Its Derivatives

Russian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2001
Electrochemical methoxylation of cinnamic acid is accompanied by decarboxylation and yields 1,1,2-trimethoxy-2-phenylethane through formation of γ-truxillic acid in the initial stage. Under the same conditions methyl cinnamate and cinnamamide give rise to hydrodimerization and reduction products.

[Antimicrobial activity of some cinnamic acid derivatives].

Revista medico-chirurgicala a Societatii de Medici si Naturalisti din Iasi, 2012
Due to drug-resistance phenomenon, there is a constant need for discovering new antiinfectious agents. A series of cinnamic acid derivatives was synthesized and then brominated with bromine in the presence of chloroform or acetic acid. The structure of the new compounds was confirmed by elemental and spectral data.

Antibacterial activity of phenylpropanoids derived from cinnamic acid

2010
In this work, we present antibacterial activity of a 22 phenylpropanoids derived from cinnamic acid, recently reported as antifungal agents by our group. Some of these compounds are commercial, others are natural products and some of them were obtained by synthesis. Antibacterial activity was determined in two stages.
