Circuit breakers for addiction [PDF]

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, 2007
AbstractThe phenomenon of addiction is complex, although its expression clinically is relatively straightforward. There is a series of neurophysiological changes that mediate changes in the mesolimbic and mesocortical systems which in turn lead to disturbances in reward mechanisms.

Wildfires' Cost for Societal Welfare: Economic Evaluation of Forestry Ecosystem Services Losses in Southern Italy

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forest ecosystem services (ESs) are garnering increasing public attention as awareness grows regarding society's fundamental dependence on them for well‐being. Forest fires, one of the major disturbances of ESs, are becoming more frequent and destructive, exacerbated in part by climate change.

Influence of UHV GIL access on transient recovery voltage of circuit breaker

open access: yes电力工程技术, 2022
The access of ultra high voltage (UHV) gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) affects both the transient recovery voltage (TRV) amplitude and the rate of rise of TRV (RRRV) of circuit breakers, which may endanger the breaking capacity of circuit breakers ...

Optically Bound Rapid Plasmonic Nanorod Dimers: Anisotropic Dynamics Driven by Light‐Fluidic Cooperation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optically confined gold nanorods exhibit cooperative light‐driven dynamics, forming mobile end‐to‐end dimers with orientation‐dependent propulsion. Using structured laser traps and an opto‐thermo‐hydrodynamic model, we uncover how optical binding, polarization‐induced torque, and near‐surface hydrodynamics govern their motion.
