Monoterpene Citral Derivatives as Potential Antimalarials [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2014
Conjugated acid derivatives containing nitrogen have been synthesized from the simple acyclic monoterpene citral, using various reactions, including Wittig, Baylis Hillman, amide and ester condensations. Similarly, amine peroxides were synthesized by subjecting citral to Mannich type reaction with amines and t-butyl hydroperoxide.

Benzochromanone and Benzochromene Natural Products: Synthetic Strategies and Total Syntheses

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This work outlines synthetic strategies for natural products with benzochromanone and benzochromene cores. Key achievements include total syntheses of xanthones, blennolide C, gonytolide C, and teretifolione B. Spirochromanone intermediates, benzyne–furan Diels–Alder reactions, and enzymatic resolution enabled efficient and enantioselective access to ...

The Effect of Citral on Aquaporin 5 and Trpv4 Expressions and Uterine Contraction in Rat—An Alternative Mechanism

open access: yesLife, 2021
Aquaporins (AQPs) are expressed in the uterus, playing a physiological role during pregnancy. An osmotic pathway—through AQP5—may modify the transient potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) function and uterine contraction.

Anogenital Contact Dermatitis in Spain: A REIDAC Study of Patients Undergoing Patch Testing in 2019–2024

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 3, Page 272-285, March 2026.
Allergic contact dermatitis is very common in patients with anogenital lesions referred for patch testing in Spain. Key allergens include fragrances, preservatives and topical treatments like anaesthetics and steroids. Emerging sensitisers including benzisothiazolinone and sodium metabisulphite are also relevant.

Identification of key genes controlling monoterpene biosynthesis of Citral-type Cinnamomum bodinieri Levl. Based on transcriptome and metabolite profiling

open access: yesBMC Genomics
The citral-type is the most common chemotype in Cinnamomum bodinieri Levl (C. bodinieri), which has been widely used in the daily necessities, cosmetics, biomedicine, and aromatic areas due to their high citral content. Despite of this economic prospect,

Deciphering How Olive Volatiles and Fatty Acids Shape Bactrocera oleae (Rosii) Oviposition Preference Using Multivariate Regression Models

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 2, Page 254-264, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The olive fly (Bactrocera oleae (Rossi)), the major pest of olives, primarily recognises visual, olfactory, acoustic, gustatory and tactile signals that regulate its behavioural activity, courtship and reproductive success, as well as the search for ideal conditions for its offspring.
