Strategy towards one-step preparation of carboxylic cellulose nanocrystals and nanofibrils with high yield, carboxylation and highly stable dispersibility using innocuous citric acid

Green Chemistry, 2019
Highly efficient preparation and carboxylation of nanocelluloses were achieved simultaneously using innocuous and recyclable citric acid with the assistance of ultrasonication.

Carbon dots from citric acid and its intermediates formed by thermal decomposition.

Chemistry, 2019
Thermal decomposition of citric acid is one of the most common syntheses of fluorescent C-dots; the reaction pathway is, however, quite complex and the details are still far from being understood.

Citric Acid

2011
Citric acid is one of the most widely used organic acids, and its annual worldwide production reached 1.6 million ton during 2009. It is used as an acidulant and preservative in the food industry, and also as a complexing agent in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Citric acid is also used as a complexing and chelating agent in metal treatment,

Citric acid production

Bioprocess Engineering, 1996
Selective separation of citric acid and process optimization for its recovery from fermented broth through precipitation and acid hydrolysis were tried. A mathematical model has been proposed for yield. The experimental values are in good agreement with predicted values; the correlation coefficient was found to 0.9198.

Molecular Fluorescence in Citric Acid-Based Carbon Dots

, 2017
Nitrogen-doped carbon dots synthesized from citric acid as a carbon precursor have recently been considered to contain fluorescent derivatives of citrazinic acid, which contribute to their emission in the blue spectral range.

Fungal production of citric acid

Biotechnology Advances, 1995
Citric acid is the principal organic acid found in citrus fruits. To meet increasing demands it is produced from carbohydrate feedstock by fermentation with the fungus Aspergillus niger and the yeasts of Candida spp. Effect of various fermentation conditions and the biochemistry of citric acid formation by A. niger have been discussed.

Citric acid metabolism in periodontosis

Archives of Oral Biology, 1964
Abstract The citric acid content in blood is apparently elevated in patients with diffuse atrophy of the alveolar bone (periodontosis). In the periodontosis cases, the amount of citric acid excreted in urine during 2 hr after intravenous administration of sodium citrate is significantly increased in comparison with that of normal controls.

Luminescence phenomena of carbon dots derived from citric acid and urea - a molecular insight.

Nanoscale, 2018
In this report, we present the results of our investigations into the elucidation of the chemical structure of moieties responsible for the blue and green luminescence of CDs derived from the microwave-assisted pyrolysis of citric acid in the presence of
