Rational Modulation of Excited‐State Intramolecular Proton Transfer, Aggregation‐Induced Emission, and Intramolecular Motion on Polysubstituted Imidazoles

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 1, January 2026.
Precise modulation of the excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process was achieved using a newly synthesized family of N‐substituted imidazoles. Combined experimental and theoretical approaches reveal how N‐alkyl and 2‐(methoxy)phenyl modulate enol‐keto equilibrium, molecular conformation, and emission behavior.

The Effect of Different Hydroxyapatite Structures on the Cellular Behavior of Polycaprolactone/Sodium Alginate/Collagen Scaffolds to Proliferate Mesenchymal Cells

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 1, Page 28-34, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study demonstrates how a hydroxyapatite/(HaP) structure influences and determines cell viability/proliferation on electrospun hybrid polycaprolactone/sodium‐alginate/collagen scaffolds when mesenchymal cells are seeded. Four different HaPs were tested: (1) nanometric/(nHaP), (2) micrometric/(μHap), (3) functionalized/(nHaPf), and (4 ...

Maquiladoras, Air Pollution, and Human Health in Ciudad Juarez and El Paso [PDF]

open access: yes
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, is home to the U.S.–Mexico border’s largest maquiladora labor force, and also its worst air pollution. We marshal two types of evidence to examine the link between maquiladoras and air pollution in Ciudad Juárez, and in its ...

Giant and reversible inverse barocaloric effects near room temperature in ferromagnetic MnCoGeB0.03 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hydrostatic pressure represents an inexpensive and practical method of driving caloric effects in brittle magnetocaloric materials, which display first-order magnetostructural phase transitions whose large latent heats are traditionally accessed using ...

Between surveillance and self‐surveillance: What institutionalised girls in Ciudad Juárez (reveal that they) know about sexuality

open access: yesChildren &Society, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 25-43, January 2026.
Abstract We describe how girls aged 7 to 12 from social care homes in Ciudad Juárez (Mexico) talk about sexuality in workshops that we led, focusing on how mechanisms of surveillance and self‐surveillance operate in a context in which the research framework opens up new norms for socially acceptable ways of talking about sexuality.

Understanding the Biogeographic Scope of Next‐Generation Sequencing Methods in Genomic Studies of Montane Taxa

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Next‐generation sequencing has become a powerful tool for increasing the robustness and reliability of phylogeographic analyses. However, it is unclear how much the use of these techniques has grown quantitatively, and to what extent their use has been equitably distributed among regions.

How Has NAFTA Affected the Business Relationship Between the United States and Mexico? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper researches the effects NAFTA has had on the relationship between Mexico and the United States. It positions the question of why Mexico chose to enter the agreement within a larger historical context, debating the economic and social effects on

Pollution Control in the Informal Sector: The Ciudad Juárez Brickmakers' Project [PDF]

open access: yes
Low-technology unlicensed micro-enterprises known as "informal" firms are a significant source of pollution in developing countries that are virtually impossible to regulate in the conventional manner. This paper describes an example of an innovative and

Engaging and strengthening youth through international community‐based research: Implementation and evaluation of an International Youth Advisory Board

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, Volume 76, Issue 3-4, Page 339-353, December 2025.
Abstract Youth advisory boards are ubiquitous in community‐based research, yet there is limited description of their development or direct benefits to participants within international research contexts. This convergent mixed‐method study describes and evaluates the design and implementation of a bilingual International Youth Advisory Board (IYAB) of ...
