Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck: Subclassification into Basal, Ductal, and Mixed Subtypes Based on Comparison of Clinico-pathologic Features and Expression of p53, Cyclin D1, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor, p16, and Human Papillomavirus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2017
Background Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma with distinct pathologic characteristics. The histogenesis of BSCC is not fully understood, and the cancer has been suggested to originate from a totipotent ...

Exosome‐mimetic vesicle‐encapsulated multi‐responsive antibacterial hydrogel core‐shell microneedle patch promotes scarless healing of infected wounds

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The core‐shell microneedle patch VP@FNV‐CuO2‐MN was fabricated by encapsulating n‐CuO2 in a moderately crosslinked PVA/CMCS/Borax4 hydrogel shell and VP‐loaded fibroblast membrane nanovesicles (VP@FNV) in a highly crosslinked PVA/CMCS/Borax6 hydrogel core. Upon application to an infected wound, the acidic microenvironment triggers Fenton‐like reactions

CK19 and GPC3 expression in different histological variation of HCC.

open access: yes, 2016
Thin trabecular HCC was usually accompanied by the pseudoglandular structure (blue arrow head). This histological variant mostly showed CK19−/GPC3− expression (A). Majority of SHCCs showed CK19+/GPC3+ expression. But nearly half of CK19+/GPC3+ cases with

Diagnostic Value of TROP-2 and CK19 Expression in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma in Both Surgical and Cytological Specimens

open access: yesClinical Pathology, 2019
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) represents the most common primary malignant thyroid tumor and its diagnosis is dependent on the presence of classic nuclear features that are sometimes seen in some non-neoplastic and benign lesions.

The Role of Immunohistochemistry in the Differential Diagnosis between Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma, Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Liver Metastasis, as Well as Its Prognostic Value

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is the second most frequent primary hepatic malignant tumor, after hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Its incidence has risen worldwide, yet the only potentially curative treatment, surgical resection, is seldom ...

The Early Regenerative Events in the Human Tympanic Membrane After In Vivo Traumatization

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
At 20 h after in vivo traumatization a regenerative response in the human tympanic membrane is activated. The results show an upregulated proliferation activity in the UPT in early healing and confirm the previously described regenerative regions of the annulus and malleus.

Inhibition of the Notch Signaling Pathway Reduces the Differentiation of Hepatic Progenitor Cells into Cholangiocytes in Biliary Atresia

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Viral infections, especially with rotavirus, are often considered an initiator of the pathogenesis of biliary atresia (BA). However, the mechanism by which rotavirus induces BA is still unclear.

A Spotlight on Yolk‐sac Tumors: Molecular Pathology, Current Diagnostics, and Novel Therapeutics

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Yolk‐sac tumors are an aggressive subtype of testicular cancer that significantly contribute to disease progression and therapy resistance, especially in adults. While testicular cancer generally has high cure rates with cisplatin‐based treatment, adult yolk‐sac tumors often appear as components of mixed tumors with poor response to
