Charm Phenomenology for CKM Parameters

open access: yes, 2003
We review several key aspects of charm phenomenology which are important for the general program of determination of matrix elements of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskava (CKM) matrix. We argue that charm physics plays an important role in reducing uncertainties in non-perturbative QCD parameters whose values are required for understanding of underlying ...

Constraining |V cs | and physics beyond the Standard Model from exclusive (semi)leptonic charm decays

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study the available data on exclusive leptonic and semileptonic c → sℓ + ν decays within the Standard Model and beyond. Our analysis accounts for theory correlations between the relevant hadronic matrix elements through application of dispersive ...

Fostering Dialogue Among Community Stakeholders: A Museum‐Based Case Study of Public Health Engagement

open access: yesCurator: The Museum Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines how museums have expanded their societal roles, particularly in fostering community engagement, a shift highlighted during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Once focused mainly on presenting established knowledge, museums now work to involve the public in exploring ideas that help them navigate a changing world.

Workshop on the CKM Matrix and the Unitarity Triangle

open access: yes, 2003
This report contains the results of the Workshop on the CKM Unitarity Triangle, held at CERN on 13-16 February 2002 to study the determination of the CKM matrix from the available data of K, D, and B physics.

The burden of COVID‐19 in hospitalized people with diabetes mellitus in Brazil: Insights from four years of the pandemic

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), is more severe in people with diabetes mellitus due to immune dysfunction, exacerbated inflammation and increased risk of co‐morbidities and mortality.

Cardiovascular Disease Risk Prediction in Patients With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatohepatitis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to develop the first prediction models for CVD risk in a cohort of patients with MASH.

Proteomic Profiling Captures Residual Cardiovascular Risk Beyond the PREVENT Model in Individuals With Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome Stages 2–3

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome reflects complex pathobiological interactions among metabolic disorders, kidney injury, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Stages 2 and 3 represent critical phases of disease progression characterised by high pathological heterogeneity.

Scaling relationships between Haversian canal‐to‐secondary osteon and midshaft femur cortical‐to‐total area in a human autopsy sample

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We report that femoral cortical thickness was strongly and negatively associated with secondary osteon porosity in an Australian autopsy sample, indicating that thicker cortices contained less porous secondary osteons. This allometric relationship held for the whole sample, males and sedentary well‐nourished individuals, but not for females or other ...

Constraining the CKM parameters usingCPviolation in semileptonicBdecays [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1999
We discuss the usefulness of the CP violating semi-leptonic asymmetry a_{SL} not only as a signal of new physics, but also as a tool in constraining the CKM parameters. We show that this technique could yield useful results in the first years of running at the B factories.
