Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction on BaO-ZrO2 mixed oxides
Reaction Kinetics and Catalysis Letters, 2007A series of BaO-ZrO2 mixed oxides has been prepared by the sol-gel method. Crystalline structures were observed by XRD in the mixed oxides. High selectivity to chalcone and benzoic acid as by-products was obtained by performing the acetophenone-benzaldehyde condensation reaction.

Ultrasound accelerated Claisen–Schmidt condensation: A green route to chalcones
Applied Surface Science, 2006Abstract Chalcones have been synthesized under sonochemical irradiation by Claisen–Schmidt condensation between benzaldehyde and acetophenone. Two basic activated carbons (Na and Cs-Norit) have been used as catalysts. The effect of the ultrasound activation has been studied.

AbstractConsiderable acceleration was observed in the guanidine‐base catalysed Claisen‐Schmidt condensation of benzaldehyde and a 17α‐methyl‐18‐nor‐5α,13α‐androstan‐16‐one (1) in the presence of ethylene glycol. Rate‐enhancement effects of various alcohols and diols were compared.
