Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of clinical carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter species harboring the metallo-beta-lactamases IMP-8 or NDM-1 in China

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. pose a significant challenge in clinical settings due to limited treatment options for nosocomial infections. Carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D beta-lactamases are the primary cause for carbapenem resistance, while ...

Validation of Hexaplex Recombinase Polymerase Amplification Assay for the Detection of Carbapenemase Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates From Pediatric Inpatients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 4, February 2026.
A novel hexaplex recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) method was developed to rapidly and accurately detect five key carbapenemase genes and a Klebsiella pneumoniae‐specific target in a single reaction. This makes it an effective tool for CRKP detection in resource‐constrained environments.

The Impact Aerobic and Anaerobic Incubations of Poultry Litter Have on Class 1 Integron Resistome and Microbiome

open access: yesAgriculture
Animal manure is a desirable fertilizer because of its rich nitrogen, but it also contains a large and diverse reservoir of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes (ARGs).

Antibiotic resistance in the environment, with particular reference to MRSA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The introduction of β-lactam antibiotics (penicillins and cephalosporins) in the 1940s and 1950s probably represents the most dramatic event in the battle against infection in human medicine.

Rapid Typing of Extended‐Spectrum β‐Lactamase (ESBL)‐ and Metallo‐β‐Lactamase (MBL)‐Producing Enterobacterales Using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT‐IR) Spectroscopy

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
Clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter cloacae complex were analyzed using FT‐IR spectroscopy and genotyping methods. High concordance was observed, demonstrating the potential of FT‐IR spectroscopy as a rapid screening tool.

Temporal dynamics of class 1 and class 3 integron pools in treated wastewater

open access: yesWater Research
Wastewater is a hotspot for the spread and evolution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with integrons playing a key role in the dissemination of AMR. However, there is limited information available regarding the integron pool of wastewater environments.

Antimicrobial Resistance, Class 1 Integrons, and Genomic Island 1 in Salmonella Isolates from Vietnam

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
The objective was to investigate the phenotypic and genotypic resistance and the horizontal transfer of resistance determinants from Salmonella isolates from humans and animals in Vietnam. The susceptibility of 297 epidemiologically unrelated non-typhoid Salmonella isolates was investigated by disk diffusion assay.

Caracterización de integrones y casetes de resistencia a antimicrobianos y amino cuaternarios en cepas de Salmonella aisladas en el Estado de México [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Salmonella spp, is a public and animal health problem, due to the emergence of multiresistant strains to antimicrobials, this multiresistance has been related to resistance genes that are found in the bacterial chromosome or related with plasmids ...
