Classical Transitions

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
We introduce the calculus of Classical Transitions (CT), which extends the research line on the relationship between linear logic and processes to labelled transitions. The key twist from previous work is registering parallelism in typing judgements, by generalising linear logic judgements from one sequents to many (hypersequents).

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Diversity in the Contemporary Classical Composition - Time for Action

open access: yes, 2017
Diversity in Classical Music: Time for Action - builds on research carried out by the organisation, BASCA, which demonstrates that female and AAME composers still face barriers when it comes to receiving commissions for new compositions.

The economic return of classical studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
openUsing an IPWRA estimator, we estimate the effect of high school choice (classical lyceum vs scientific lyceum) on labour market outcomes. Morover, we investigate the existence of a gap in the return to college between classical and scientific ...

A novel ViewRNA in situ hybridization method for the detection of the dynamic distribution of Classical Swine Fever Virus RNA in PK15 cells

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2017
Background Classical swine fever (CSF) is a highly contagious fatal infectious disease caused by classical swine fever virus (CSFV). A better understanding of CSFV replication is important for the study of pathogenic mechanism of CSF.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Survey on Multi-UAV Path Planning: Classification, Algorithms, Open Research Problems, and Future Directions

open access: yesDrones
Multi-UAV path planning algorithms are crucial for the successful design and operation of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks. While many network researchers have proposed UAV path planning algorithms to improve system performance, an in-depth review ...

Interrelations between dualities in classical integrable systems and a classical–classical version of the quantum–classical duality

open access: yesTheoretical and Mathematical Physics
We describe the Ruijsenaars' action-angle duality in classical many-body integrable systems through the spectral duality transformation relating the classical spin chains and Gaudin models. For this purpose, the Lax matrices of many-body systems are represented in the multi-pole (Gaudin-like) form by introducing a fictitious spectral parameter.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
