The Classical–Quantum Correspondence
2022This Element provides an entry point for philosophical engagement with quantization and the classical limit. It introduces the mathematical tools of C*-algebras as they are used to compare classical and quantum physics. It then employs those tools to investigate philosophical issues surrounding theory change in physics.

Quantal-Classical Correspondence Impulse Theory
Physical Review Letters, 2000The quantal impulse cross section is derived in a novel form appropriate for direct classical correspondence. The classical impulse cross section is then uniquely defined and yields the first general classical expression for nl-n(')l(') collisional transitions. The derived cross sections satisfy the optical theorem and detailed balance.

Classical collisions and correspondence principle
Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1970An outstanding problem in the classical theory of atomic collisions has been its inability to produce the correct logarithmic dependence of certain excitation cross sections. The authors show that this is because the wrong correspondence has been made between classical and quantum mechanics.
