On quantum-classical correspondence in classical studies of atomic processes

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2001
Summary: A general method for the construction of the optimum classical description of a physical process on the atomic scale is presented. The method is developed for physical systems whose quantum versions are obtained by canonical quantization of their classical counterparts and it is in principle applicable even in the case of `low' quantum numbers.

Chaos and a quantum-classical correspondence in the kicked top

Physical Review E, 1994
The problem ``what is the quantum signature of a classically chaotic system'' is studied for the periodically kicked top. We find that the quantum variances initially grow exponentially if the corresponding classical description is chaotic. The rate of growth is connected to the corresponding classical Jacobi matrix and, thereby, to the local ...

Decoherence, Orbit, and Classical Linear Frequency Entropy: Quantum-Classical Correspondence

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2009
Summary: The decoherence process is analyzed for an open quantum system that is classically chaotic, with a classical linear frequency entropy developed to measure the stability of classical motion. Investigation shows that the decoherence measured by the rate of quantum linear entropy production varies significantly with both the underlying classical ...

Quantum and Classical Correspondance of Damped-Amplified Oscillators

Physica Scripta, 2002
Summary: We use an invariant operator to obtain the Schrödinger solution of damped-amplified oscillators. The expectation values of the quantum mechanical energy operator correspond to the classical energy. The geometric phase of the system increases linearly with time. We confirm that the uncertainty principle always holds. The uncertainty relation in

Correspondence of classical and quantum irreversibilities

Quantum and Semiclassical Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1998
The reversibility of classical mechanics is broken by the Carnot principle; in quantum mechanics, the time inversion invariance is broken by the principle of state decoherence. In both cases, a greater complexity produces a faster irreversibility. These principles are applied to problems related to absorption and diffusion of light.

Chaos and the quantum-classical correspondence in the kicked pendulum

Physical Review E, 1994
The problem of determining the quantum signature of a classically chaotic system is studied for the periodically kicked pendulum. In parallel with the observation that chaos creates exponential growth of intrinsic fluctuations in classical, macroscopic, dissipative systems, we find that the quantum variances initially grow exponentially if the ...

Distribution corresponding to classical thermodynamics

Physics of Wave Phenomena, 2015
A distribution corresponding to classical thermodynamics is constructed. The concept of degrees of freedom is generalized and a concept of temperature-dependent number of collective degrees of freedom is introduced. A relationship between the theory of numbers and mesoscopic physics is established.

Quantum-Classical Correspondence: Dynamical Quantization and the Classical Limit

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2004
In only 150 pages, not counting appendices, references, or the index, this book is one author's perspective of the massive theoretical and philosophical hurdles in the no-man's-land separating the classical and quantum domains of physics. It ends with him emphasizing his own theoretical contribution to this area.

Classical-Quantum Correspondence for Above-Threshold Ionization

Physical Review Letters, 2014
We measure high resolution photoelectron angular distributions (PADs) for above-threshold ionization of xenon atoms in infrared laser fields. Based on the Ammosov-Delone-Krainov theory, we develop an intuitive quantum-trajectory Monte Carlo model encoded with Feynman's path-integral approach, in which the Coulomb effect on electron trajectories and ...

Classical-Quantum Correspondence in the Presence of Global Chaos

Physical Review Letters, 1988
