Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Reinterpreting Mixed Strategy Equilibria: A Unification of the Classical and Bayesian Views [PDF]
We provide a new interpretation of mixed strategy equilibria that incorporates both von Neumann and Morgenstern's classical concealment role of mixing as well as the more recent Bayesian view originating with Harsanyi.

On orthogonal polynomials and related discrete integrable systems [PDF]
Orthogonal polynomials arise in many areas of mathematics and have been the subject of interest by many mathematicians. In recent years this interest has often arisen from outside the orthogonal polynomial community after their connection with ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Classical Turnpike Theory and the Economics of Forestry [PDF]
Classical turnpike theory, as originally conceived by Samuelson, pertains to optimal growth theory over a large but infinite time horizon with given initial and terminal stocks.

The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

The application of classical conditioning to the machine learning of a commonsense knowledge of visual events [PDF]
In the field of artificial intelligence, possession of commonsense knowledge has long been considered to be a requirementto construct a machine that possesses artificial general intelligence.

Supersymmetry and classical solutions
We obtain classical solutions to the field equations of the massless supersymmetric Wess-Zumino model and to the field equations of the interacting SU(2) gauge supermultiplet. This is done by applying finite supersymmetry transformations to the known solutions of the scalar field equation with ϕ4 interaction and the Yang-Mills field equations.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
