As a cross-sea or river deep-water foundation, it is clear that the caisson foundation will be subjected to significant lateral dynamic loads due to winds or waves and suffer from scouring under its long-term effect.

Temporal variation of clear water scour at cylindrical bridge piers
Computation of temporal variation of clear water scour is important for the design of bridge pier footings. Previous studies indicated that very long flow duration was needed to achieve equilibrium scouring situations.

Behavioral responses of black bears to human presence and infrastructure in Yosemite National Park
Using GPS collar data from black bears in Yosemite National Park, we examined how bear spatiotemporal activity in relation to human development shifted during the COVID‐19 park closure in 2020. In the absence of visitors, bears maintained consistent landscape‐scale space use but altered fine‐scale spatial and temporal behaviors.

A novel approach for in situ benthic habitat characterization
Abstract Habitat heterogeneity is a key driver of temporal and spatial variability of subtidal marine benthic biodiversity. However, this makes it a challenging environment in which to measure and quantify the factors driving biodiversity in a consistent manner.

Flow Velocity Effect on Clear Water Bridge Pier Scour [PDF]
For a long while, scour mechanism has been a major problem to be solved by many researchers. Local scour phenomenon at bridge piers has many parameters such as flow characteristics, sediment type, bridge pier shape and alignment.

A new species of Lentibulariaceae, Pinguicula brendae Rodríguez‐Ramírez, H.Shimai & A.R. Andrés‐Hernández, is described based on its unique morphological characteristics. This species is restricted to limestone rock walls in the San Bartolo Tutotepec municipality, central‐eastern Hidalgo, Mexico, where it inhabits a single locality on vertical, north ...

The Local Scour Impact Around a Cylindrical Bridge Pier for Two Different Abutment Models
Local scour, the erosion of sediment around hydraulic structures caused by flowing water, is a major factor contributing to bridge failure, particularly near piers and abutments.
