Feasibility of a digital therapeutic for experiential negative symptoms of schizophrenia: results from an exploratory study

open access: yesSchizophrenia
Experiential negative symptoms (ENS) of schizophrenia, such as asociality, anhedonia, and avolition, are associated with poor outcomes, yet no FDA-approved pharmacotherapies currently exist specifically to target these symptoms.

Recent Advances in Transition Metal-Catalyzed Ring-Opening Reaction of Aziridine

open access: yesCompounds
The smallest strained, saturated N-heterocycles, such as aziridine, can be a valuable building block in synthetic organic chemistry. Ring-opening reactions with various nucleophiles could be the most important strategy to synthesize various value-added ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Exoskeleton for Biofunctionality Protection of Enzymes and Proteins for Intracellular Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, 2021
Driven by the challenges to protect and restore biofunctionality of enzymes and proteins due to fluctuation of temperature, pH, and solvents, desired tolerances against the intracellular microenvironment can be gained via sheltering enzyme and proteins ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

An Assessment of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Public Administration from 2009-2013 [PDF]

open access: yesInSight, 2016
The acceptance of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) as a legitimate form of scholarly investigation and the shape that it takes in post-secondary education are inherently discipline-specific.

A reação "click" na síntese de 1,2,3-triazóis: aspectos químicos e aplicações

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2011
The Copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), often referred to as "click" reaction, has become a very popular reaction in the last years. It affords exclusively 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles and has been widely used to connect readily ...
