Organic Centre Wales Technical Note 5: Biology and management of wireworms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Wireworms are the larvae of a group of beetles commonly known as click beetles. After falling on their backs they right themselves by flicking themselves into the air and produce a “clicking” sound.

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Seasonal fluctuation of Agriotes lineatus, A. obscurus and A. sputator click beetles caught using pheromone traps in Poland

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2018
The trap catch of Agriotes species and dynamics of the occurrence of adult click beetles using pheromone traps were determined, and the relationship between the dynamics of the caught wireworms and the placement of traps in selected agricultural crops ...

A male-produced aggregation-sex pheromone of the beetle Arhopalus rusticus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae, Spondylinae) may be useful in managing this invasive species. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The longhorned beetle Arhopalus rusticus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae, Spondylinae) is a common species in conifer forests of the Northern Hemisphere, but with global trade, it has invaded and become established in New Zealand, Australia, and South America.

DMAP1 Deficiency Suppresses Lung Cancer Progression by Destabilizing Replication Fork and Activating IFN Signaling‐Mediated Anti‐tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer‐related death. We investigated the role of the epigenetic regulator DMAP1 in NSCLC and found that its loss induces replication stress and DNA damage. This in turn activates type I IFN signaling via the cGAS–STING pathway and transcriptional ISG de‐repression, enhancing anti‐tumor immune responses ...

Dual-Color Click Beetle Luciferase Heteroprotein Fragment Complementation Assays

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2010
Understanding the functional complexity of protein interactions requires mapping biomolecular complexes within the cellular environment over biologically relevant time scales. Herein, we describe a set of reversible multicolored heteroprotein complementation fragments based on various firefly and click beetle luciferases that utilize the same substrate,

Diversity and Community Composition of Click Beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae) in  Forest  Patches  of  Iligan  City, Mindanao, Philippines

open access: yesDavao Research Journal
Click beetles (Family Elateridae) are among the most diverse groups within the Elateroidea superfamily of beetles. These insects are often used as indicators of ecosystem diversity, as their presence reflects environmental health.

Making care audible: Musical gifts and affective reciprocity in the clinic

open access: yesFeminist Anthropology, EarlyView.
Abstract In clinical settings, music therapy is frequently received as a gift—a voluntary offering that invites but does not demand participation. Drawing on ethnographic research with music therapists and patients in Canadian and American hospitals, this article examines how clinical care is co‐constituted through practices of giving, receiving, and ...

The genome sequence of a click beetle, Agrypnus murinus (Linnaeus, 1758)

open access: yesWellcome Open Research, 2023
We present a genome assembly from an individual male Agrypnus murinus (a click beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Elateridae). The genome sequence is 1,578.5 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 9 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome.
