Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

The implication of climate adaptation and mitigation research: capacity adaptation of rice paddy farmers to climate change

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2018
Climate change requires adjustment, resilience, anticipation, coping with stress or changes to sustainable agricultural development in socioeconomic and biophysical systems. Climate change affects the plants, livestock and also the environment, thus a reactive adaptation by paddy farmers is necessary.

Targeted Restoration of the Microbial Tryptophan Oxidative Pathway Ameliorates Autism‐Like Behavioral and Synaptic Deficits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis, yet the contribution of specific microbial metabolic pathways remains unclear. Reanalysis of a public ASD cohort revealed reduced functional potential in microbial tryptophan oxidative metabolism.

Gm26550 Modulates Learning and Memory by Increasing IGF1 mRNA Expression and Stability in Nrf2−/− Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The present study shows that Nrf2 directly binds to the Gm26550 promoter, thereby activating Gm26550 transcription and increasing its expression. Mechanistically, Gm26550 promotes IGF1 expression by functionally antagonizing miR‐26a‐5p‐mediated repression and sequestering the RBP KHSRP, thereby enhancing hippocampal neuronal synaptic plasticity and ...

Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change in Pastoral Areas

open access: yesSustainability
The warming climate and increasing extreme weather events are transforming ecological backgrounds, which is bringing new challenges to herders’ livelihood in grassland areas. To understand the practical ecological risks and the current resilience situations of herders’ behaviors and government correspondence measures, we built a conceptual framework of

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.
