Phenotypic detection of inducible clindamycin resistance among Staphylococcus aureus isolates by using the lower limit of recommended inter-disk distance

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2008
Context: Clindamycin is one of the important alternative antibiotics in the therapy of Staphylococcus aureus, particularly in methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infections.

Antibiotic susceptibility/resistant gene profiles of Group B streptococci isolates from pregnant women in a tertiary institution in Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Sciences, 2016
Background: Penicillin is recommended as the first-line agent for intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis (IAP). Although Group B Streptococcus (GBS) strains are generally susceptible to penicillin with only occasional resistance, they show varying resistance

Urban ants as potential mechanical vectors of pathogenic and antibiotic‐resistant bacteria in a Brazilian hospital

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
Nine ant taxa were identified in a Brazilian hospital, with Tapinoma melanocephalum and Dorymyrmex brunneus being the most abundant. Eighty‐five percent of collected ants yielded detectable bacterial growth, including clinically relevant genera such as Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Pluralibacter.

Prevalence of inducible clindamycin resistance in gram positive organisms in a tertiary care centre [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Gram positive organisms are one of the leading pathogens causing skin and soft tissue infections. For these infections, clindamycin is a useful alternate drug in penicillin-allergic patients.

Phenotypic Detection of Constitutive and Inducible Clindamycin Resistance among Clinical Isolates of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in A Tertiary Care Hospital in North India: A Cross-sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
Staphylococcus aureus is the microbe implicated in the causation of numerous nosocomial and community-acquired ailments. Physicians have been facing enormous challenges day by day while treating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA ...

A Reassessment of Prophylactic Antibiotics in Low‐Infection‐Risk Electrophysiology Procedures

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Certain electrophysiology (EP) procedures are associated with minimal tissue disruption and do not involve permanent transvenous leads. As a result, these interventions carry a lower risk of device‐ or procedure‐related infection. These procedures include placement of implantable cardiac monitors, leadless pacemakers, and left atrial appendage

Susceptibility of Streptococcus agalactiae to erythromycin and clindamycin in pregnant women in the prenatal screening

open access: yesClinical and Biomedical Research, 2019
Introduction: Group B streptococcus (GBS), or Streptococcus agalactiae, is a bacterium found in normal human microbiota. However, it may cause neonatal pneumonia, sepsis, and meningitis.

A decade of antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus aureus: A single center experience.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
BackgroundThe emergence of community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) resulted in the recommended use of clindamycin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) for suspected S. aureus infections.

Association of Nasal and Inhalant Corticosteroids With Pediatric Perioral Dermatitis: A TriNetX Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although topical corticosteroids are known triggers in the development of perioral dermatitis (PD), investigation into inhalant and nasal corticosteroid preparations, commonly used to manage allergic rhinitis and asthma, remains limited to case series.

Frequency of inducible clindamycin resistance among Gram-positive cocci in a tertiary hospital,Tehran, Iran

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2016
Background and Objectives: Accurate designation of antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of the infecting microorganisms is an important crucial factor in making appropriate therapeutic decisions. Macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin B antibiotics are
