GLP‐1 Receptor Agonist Therapy and Cardiorenal Outcomes in Type 1 Diabetes: A Propensity‐Matched Real‐World Analysis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 6347-6357, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Evidence on cardiovascular/renal outcomes associated with GLP‐1‐based therapies in type 1 diabetes (T1D) is limited. We examined the effects of GLP‐1‐based therapy on major clinical outcomes and safety, including diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and hypoglycemia risk, in adults with T1D in a large real‐world cohort.

Coexistence of GH-Producing Pituitary Macroadenoma and Meningioma in a Patient with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 with Hyperglycemia and Ketosis as First Clinical Sign

open access: yesCase Reports in Endocrinology, 2017
We present the clinical case of a patient who was admitted with an onset of diabetes mellitus (DM) with associated ketosis and whose clinical, hormonal, and radiological evolution revealed the presence of primary hyperparathyroidism, pancreatic ...

Ketogenic Diet as an Epigenetic Therapy in SETD1B‐Related Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 6, Page 1268-1275, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Histone lysine methyltransferases such as SETD1B regulate chromatin structure and gene transcription. Ketone bodies, including butyrate, act as histone deacetylase inhibitors. We report a 4‐year‐old boy with SETD1B‐related absence epilepsy, refractory to conventional medications, who achieved sustained > 90% seizure reduction on the Modified ...

Changes in haematological and serum biochemical parameter concentrations from the day of calving to ketosis onset in Holstein dairy cows during the postpartum period

open access: yesIrish Veterinary Journal
Background Dairy cows commonly experience a negative energy balance (NEB) during early lactation as energy demands for maintenance and milk production exceed intake.

Targeting PHB2-mediated mitophagy alleviates nonesterified fatty acid-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in bovine mammary epithelial cells

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Mitochondrial dysfunction has been reported to occur in the mammary gland of dairy cows suffering from ketosis. Prohibitin 2 (PHB2) plays a crucial role in regulating mitophagy, which clears impaired mitochondria to maintain normal mitochondrial ...

Cytosolic Phosphoenoylpyruvate Carboxykinase Deficiency: Clinical, Biochemical, and Genetic Features of Five Non‐Finnish Patients

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 6, Page 1192-1203, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cytosolic phosphoenoylpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK‐C) is an essential, rate‐limiting enzyme in the gluconeogenesis pathway. PEPCK‐C deficiency presents with hypoglycaemia, hyperlactataemia and hepatopathy, and was first reported in association with bi‐allelic PCK1 variants in 2014.

Caveolin 1 ameliorates nonesterified fatty acid–induced oxidative stress via the autophagy regulator beclin 1 in bovine mammary gland epithelial cells

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: High blood concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) during ketosis enhance uptake by the mammary gland and impair autophagy while causing oxidative stress.

”Not always the magic bullet”—Insufficient seizure control by ketogenic dietary therapies in Glut1 Deficiency Syndrome

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 847-858, June 2026.
Abstract Objective Ketogenic dietary therapies (KDTs) are the treatment of choice for Glut1 Deficiency Syndrome (Glut1DS), providing dietary ketones as an alternative fuel to the brain and effectively controlling seizures. Recent evidence indicates insufficient seizure control in Glut1DS patients despite adequate KDT and ketosis.

Evaluation of the levels of Leptin, Beta hydroxyl butyrate, Glucose, Cholesterol and Triglyceride in serum of Holstein cows with sub clinical ketosis [PDF]

open access: yesĀsīb/shināsī-i Darmāngāhī-i Dāmpizishkī, 2012
Leptin hormone is secreted from the white adipocytes of adipose tissue and its levels increase with the increase in size of the adipose tissue.  One of the most important actions of this hormone is the regulation of body metabolism by consuming adipose ...
