Dapagliflozin does not impair microvascular hemorheology in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A multicenter randomized controlled trial (D‐PATH study)

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract illustrating the study design, physiological rationale, and key findings of the D‐PATH trial. Dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, lowers HbA1c and body weight while increasing hematocrit and erythropoietin levels. Although an elevated hematocrit could theoretically increase blood viscosity and impair microcirculatory flow, ex vivo ...

Lipolysis inhibition as a treatment of clinical ketosis in dairy cows: Effects on adipose tissue metabolic and immune responses

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Dairy cows with clinical ketosis (CK) exhibit excessive adipose tissue (AT) lipolysis and systemic inflammation. Lipolysis in cows can be induced by the canonical (hormonally induced) and inflammatory lipolytic pathways.

Hemato-Biochemical Studies on Clinical Cases of Primary Ketosis in Buffaloes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Research, 2015
The study was conducted on 145 buffaloes brought to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, LUVAS from Hisar and adjoining villages, with signs of anorexia and decreased milk yield. Urine samples from buffaloes were screened for ketosis using two tests (Rothera's test and Keto-Diastix-strip test).

Dietary interventions in acute kidney injury: From molecular mechanism to clinical trials

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Ageing impairs renal resilience with an elevated risk of frequent and harmful acute kidney injury (AKI) that causes substantial morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients. Since different damaging stimuli at the molecular, cellular and functional level contribute to this loss in kidney function, AKI's pathophysiology is heterogeneous ...

Multiple Carboxylase Deficiency in an Infant Presenting With Severe Metabolic Acidosis and Sepsis‐Like Features: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Multiple carboxylase deficiency (MCD) is a rare, treatable inborn error of biotin metabolism that may present in children in the first year of life with life‐threatening metabolic crises. We report a 4‐month‐old child presenting with persistent seizures, eczematous rash near the orifices, unjustified loss of hair with baldness, and severe ...

Cullin 3 mitigates nonesterified fatty acid–induced oxidative stress in mammary epithelial cells: Involvement of BCL2/BECN1 and autophagy

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: High nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA) concentrations in cows with clinical ketosis lead to metabolic dysfunction in mammary cells, resulting in oxidative stress.

Non-carbohydrate anaplerotic therapy counters empagliflozin-induced diabetic ketosis

open access: yesNutrition & Diabetes
Background SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLTi) confer significant cardiometabolic benefits in diabetes, but are associated with increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

PHB2-mediated inhibition of OPA1 cleavage alleviates nonesterified fatty acid–induced apoptosis in bovine mammary epithelial cells

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Excessive nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) during the transition period impose metabolic stress on the bovine mammary gland. High NEFA levels induce oxidative stress and trigger apoptosis in bovine mammary epithelial cells.
