Establishing Clinically Significant Outcomes After Meniscal Allograft Transplantation

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019
Background: Traditionally, the primary outcome in meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) has been long-term survivorship; however, short-term clinically significant outcomes are necessary to fully evaluate patient improvement after surgery. Purpose: To

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for depression following psychosis: an examination of clinically significant change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Depression following psychosis is common and can impact negatively on individuals’ quality of life. This study conducted post-hoc analyses on 14 participants with psychosis from a larger randomised controlled trial who presented with clinically important

A strategy to reduce unnecessary prostate biopsies in patients with tPSA >10 ng ml−1 and PI-RADS 1–3

open access: yesAsian Journal of Andrology
We propose a strategy to reduce unnecessary prostate biopsies in Chinese patients with total prostate-specific antigen (tPSA) >10 ng ml−1 and Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) scores between 1 and 3.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Utility of the prostate health index density for detecting clinically significant prostate cancer in patients with negative magnetic resonance imaging findings

open access: yesProstate International
Background: Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used in prostate cancer diagnosis; however, a significant proportion of clinically important cancers can be missed in patients with negative MRI findings.

Mass Spectrometric Immunoassays in Characterization of Clinically Significant Proteoforms

open access: yesProteomes, 2016
Proteins can exist as multiple proteoforms in vivo, as a result of alternative splicing and single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), as well as posttranslational processing.
