Biliary Abnormality on Imaging During Lenvatinib Plus Hepatic Arterial Infusion Chemotherapy With Cisplatin for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Pilot Descriptive Study

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the frequency, imaging characteristics, associated factors, and clinical significance of biliary abnormalities on imaging in patients receiving lenvatinib (LEN) plus cisplatin hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Recombinant ADAMTS13 Ameliorates Liver Injury and Improves Hepatic Microcirculation in a Murine Acute‐on‐Chronic Liver Failure Model

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim The therapeutic significance of recombinant a disintegrin‐like and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 motif 13 (rADAMTS13) in acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of rADAMTS13 in a murine model of ACLF‐like liver injury.

Validation of the Baveno Endoscopy Avoidance Criteria in Japanese Patients With Chronic Liver Disease: A Real‐World Cohort Study

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Many patients with chronic liver disease can safely avoid unnecessary screening endoscopy using the Baveno VII criteria. We developed a simple three‐factor score to identify patients at high risk of serious esophageal varices. Using both approaches together may improve the efficiency and safety of endoscopic screening.

Cisterna Chyli Dilation Is a Risk Factor for Liver Nodules and Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Fontan‐Associated Liver Disease: Pathophysiological Role of Lymphatic Dysfunction

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim In Fontan‐associated liver disease (FALD), chronic congestion often confounds conventional fibrosis markers, complicating surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although lymphatic dysfunction is fundamental to Fontan physiology, its contribution to hepatocarcinogenesis remains unclear.

Histological manifestations of vitamin A toxicity in the liver

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Analysing clinicopathological data from 1960 to 2025, this study characterizes the spectrum of liver injury associated with chronic vitamin A toxicity. Hepatic stellate cell hypertrophy/hyperplasia and sinusoidal fibrosis emerge as the predominant features, providing a morphological basis for diagnosing vitamin A hepatotoxicity.

Hypertension among people living with HIV (PLHIV) compared with people without HIV (PWoH): A systematic review with meta‐analysis

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Hypertension is a major cardiovascular risk factor and has increased among people living with HIV. However, evidence on its association with HIV status remains inconsistent. This systematic review aimed to assess the association between HIV status and hypertension and to examine, through subgroup analyses, whether this association

UltRaSoUnd‐guided evaLuAtion of metabolic health in a cohort of midlife women with HIV: The URSULA study

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives We aimed to determine the prevalence of metabolic disorders, liver steatosis and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in a cohort of middle‐aged women with HIV (WoWH) and to explore associations between liver steatosis, visceral fat depots and carotid atherosclerosis.
