Clinoptilolite, paragenesis and stratigraphy

Sedimentology, 1977
ABSTRACTClinoptilolite, a zeolite of the heulandite group, occurs commonly in sediments as an authigenic mineral. In the Middle Eocene of southern Israel, it constitutes from a few per cent up to 80 per cent of the insoluble residue of the chalks and limestones. It is associated with opal C‐T, montmorillonite and palygorskite.

Removal of copper and lead by clinoptilolite and clinoptilolite-iron system

2010
The increasing levels of toxic metals (copper, zinc, cadmium, lead, nickel, chromium, etc.) that are discharged to the environment as industrial wastes, represent a serious threat to human health, living resources and ecological systems. Due to their tendency to accumulate in living organisms, causing various diseases and disorders, the treatment ...

Hydrodemethylation of toluene on clinoptilolite

Journal of Catalysis, 1971
From kinetic studies of the catalytic hydrodemethylation of toluene on clinoptilolite exchanged by K+, Mg2+, and La3+ ions, respectively, the mechanism of the reaction could be deduced. The rate-determining step of the transformation is a surface reaction in which hydrogen from the gas phase reacts with chemisorbed toluene in a presumably four-center ...

Industrial Sludge Solidification by Using Clinoptilolite

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2004
The sludge from metal plating industry is generally considered as "hazardous waste" due to its toxic heavy metal content. Solidification/stabilization techniques which are applied as prior to landfill give good results for the disposal of especially inorganic sludges into the landfill in a safe manner.

Clinoptilolites of Western Anatolia as Detergent Builders

Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, 1996
The use of clinoptilolites of Western Anatolia in detergents as phosphate substitutes was investigated. The cations present in the clinoptilolite samples were first exchanged with sodium ions. The washing characteristics of detergent mixtures containing surfactants, clinoptilolite, sodium carbonate and sodium sulphate were analysed.

Porous structure of natural and modified clinoptilolites

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2006
The evaluation of the pore-size distribution (PSD) of natural and modified mesoporous zeolites, i.e., clinoptilolites is presented. We demonstrate the SEM results showing that the pores of fracture-type from 25-50 nm to 100 nm in size between clinoptilolite grains, as well as pores between crystal aggregates up to 500 nm in size are present in the ...

Adsorption of Toxic Metals by Natural and Modified Clinoptilolite

Annali di Chimica, 2007
AbstractThe chromium, cobalt and lead removal from aqueous solution by natural and modified zeolites was examined by using a batch‐type method. Clinoptilolite samples used in this study were supplied from Bigadiç, Turkey. All samples were modified with HNO3 or NaOH to improve the adsorption capacity for heavy metals.

Exchange and reduction of Cu2+ ions in clinoptilolite

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2007
The ion-exchange and reduction processes for Cu(2+) ions in clinoptilolite from the Caimanes deposit (Moa, Cuba) were studied at different temperatures. The ion-exchange studies were done to determine the kinetic parameters of Cu(2+) removal from solution by this clinoptilolite modified previously to NH(+)(4) form, and thermodynamic parameters of Cu(2+)

Dielectric response in natural clinoptilolite

Conference Record of the 1996 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2002
Several samples of cation forms of the natural clinoptilolite from Tasajeras deposit were studied using dielectric spectrometry. The behaviour of the response was analyzed for different water contents and, for the calcium and sodium forms, it was investigated for several temperatures too.
